Maybe they are considering "new light" to allow women to become ministerial servants or have some other new role. We know elder numbers are dropping and they are squeezed. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

    THE TRUTHMOBILE!!!

    Costs 50 cents to join:

Seems the cops are at least interested, and some cameraman...

    Ahh, summer.

No wonder Sydlik used to call California the "seedbed of apostasy."

I haven't read all 8 pages of this thread, but am willing to put my 0.02 worth in...

Disclaimer: I have no idea what they will do, but can speculate like every one else.

The key - I believe - is with the two sentences that appear in the OP's posting...

    Will last only eight hours.

This time, the Ministerial Servants may not participate.

This means that it is not doctrinal, only 'legal' or something that the elders need to be made aware of. Especially in light of their losing a particular case recently in California. Can anyone figure it out? Buehler? Buehler?

That's right kiddos... the Candice Conti lawsuit has had a bigger affect on them than they will publicly admit - but they will hold a crash course session - 8 hours - to bring elders NOT MSs - up to speed.

That's my thoughts. I know others have also figured this out. ... well, except for the elders who have to go to an 8 hour session later this year.

Dogpatch, I had an odd feeling reading some the statments on that truthmobile so tried to enter the url as "theeternaltruth.org"

If that's right, then this a group of armstrogists. Hope the cops gave them plenty of grief so they can rack up their persecution points.

I definetely don't think they will dump D2D preaching. That is unthinkable. This has always been what makes JWs stand out.

JWs always boast about how they are the only ones who do it. It also generates revenue...NO WAY.

However, i do think it could be related to reporting time, or perhaps counting publishers. The fact is that growth is close to zero and likely soon it will be negative.

The WT knows this and they are planning something to hide the numbers perhaps by saying that the Watchtower will no longer compile numbers of publishers and hours and that the local congos will keep track of this.

By doing this, they will still have a barometer of how people are doing at the local level, and thus keep control on congregational status, while on the other hand claim that since local congos keep track of this, they don't know how many hours and publishers are reporting and thus don't know the growth difference nationwide or worldwide.

Only problem is, in some coutries, in order to keep their charitable organization status, they need something concrete to point to. They can say "Look, our members in this country spent 50 million hours engaged in a volunteer educational work" and they have the internal accounting to back up that claim.

By the way, that is likely a primary reason why they demand their members "report their time" every month.

$$$$ AND Doctrine AND Less Liability.........hummm

I am liking the field service ideas. If you do not REQUIRE field service...no "Agents". No requirements for Pedophiles to go out in order to be JWs, or anyone to go out with them. We are all seeing the DISMAL baptism turnouts in areas with internet access. Younder and younger children getting dunked to beef up numbers. Field service is down to 15 min a month to be counted as a "publisher" in order to "Fix" stats. Why not do like most other churches do...stop counting Field Service time?

No Field Service REQUIREMENT. = less $$ liability. No embarrasing declining numbers. AND you can count faders as MEMBERS, and hunt them down easier as Apostates because they ARE STILL MEMBERS.

WTBT$ is about money...BIG money....MC DONALDS is a great business model for them. This HUGE FRANCHISE business is primarily run by KIDs who can't be forced to make a sandwich at home. The WTBT$ attornies understand the beauty of a FRANCHISE model. Franchising provides a great lawsuit firewall, gives total control and saves on capital. Would you like fries with that tract???????????

I can't see them introducing tithing. According to a recent WT it is not required

"The Mosaic Law was abolished on the basis of Jesus’ death, so monetary tithing is not a requirement. Yet, tithing has a symbolic meaning. (Ephesians 2:15) It does not represent the giving of our all. While the tenth part was brought year after year, we bring our all to Jehovah only once—when we dedicate ourselves to him and symbolize our dedication by undergoing water baptism. From that time on, everything we have belongs to Jehovah. Still, he allows us to choose a portion of what we have—a symbolic tithe—to use in his service. It is whatever our circumstances allow and our heart impels us to use. The offerings we bring to Jehovah include the time, energy, and resources used in the Kingdom-preaching and disciple-making work. Also included are attending Christian meetings, visiting sick and elderly fellow believers, and rendering financial support to true worship."

    from W07 12/15 p28

As for ending field service or making it less demanding that would be a bad move too. That is one of the main ways they make people feel guilty and unworthy, other than meeting attendance.(or lack of) my guess is they will become more controlling demanding and expect more from the elders

Marking. I can't wait to come back to this thread in December and see what turned out. I believe Jim_TX has a good point re. the Conti case however to me that does not sound like "doctrine"

My personal vote is something to clarify the 144,000 mess and while they have the elders there beat them over the head about the pedophile mess. No need for any MS that don't know about Candice Conte to find out now is there?

Quitting door to door is doubtful. Perhaps cut back on it some to save some paper, push tracts more etc.

The blood issue: They want out of that badly, however if they have "new light" on the blood issue they will be asking for a LOT of grief. Lawsuits from families of those that died, especially in the time between when the "new light" struck and when it was made public. Then there would also be HUGE fall out from all the older Witnesses. They will not mess with blood. Just allow every fraction they can and then some but still keep saying that they don't accept it. That is thier only choice and that seems to be what they are doing.

DF'ing: The are keeping that. That is the whip that keeps people in line. No way they are letting go of that control

All in all my guess is it will be something to do with the 144,000. I was having a "discussion" with my better half last night and told her that she would believe whatever the FDS tells her to. Jokingly I said if they tell you that all Witnesses should partake of the emblems, next spring you will be eatin' some crackers. I had not seen this post when I said that, but wouldn't it be ironic if it turned out that way.
