There's gotta be another faction in the Writing Department, either that or they can't see the irony.

james_woods - yes exactly, and don't forget the whole "mentally diseased" thing came in the context of an illustration describing Jehovah as the "Great Physician".

I'm sure there's many more. It would make quite a funny comedy sketch. Each episode could be a new meeting in the Writing Department to decide on a good illustration to drive home a key point, and the solution always ends up being "let's liken it to doctors or physicians!" You could then show what they ended up writing. If done properly, it could be hilarious.

this is an interesting argument, this labeled pseudo-freedom...

when i read that i have freedom, i actually agree, in fact i would never think twice about someone stealing my wallet at the k.h.

of course unless someone actually does it...but the point is the k.h. is not the same place as your local pub...

anyways, i invite you to explain in which way there is a 'contradiction' in the paragraphs you pointed out...

Jehovah - the "Great Physician" who sentenced two perfect people (without disease) to corruption and death because they ate an unripe fig.

(first of all - do not harm: Not invented yet when that happened)

Jehovah - the "Great Physician" who inspired his GB geniuses to publish in the official magazine that the human heart has evil thinking powers.

Jehovah - the "Great Physician" who taught his faithful that vaccines were demonic and that Rabid dogs were not diseased, they were Demonized.

Jehovah - the "Great Physician" who encouraged probably hundreds or even thousands of "his people" to refuse blood transfusions and die.

Yup - the Watchtower has such a great medical record to be making medical analogy.

    Elephant! You have a PM

While these two points aren't so much a contradiction to themselves, they do contradict the real truth of the org. If you were to write out a list of things that JWs CAN'T do, it would've a book in itself! Especially if it included "scriptural support" (biblical acrobatics).

i recall the article covered that reasoning beforehand explaining that there are in fact 'laws' or rules that provide 'freedom'... law of gravity??

where is the contradiction for the org?

    woods-

if the Alexander can be called Great and pyramids be called Great, then yes, God can be called Great anything too...I believe its called an opinion...

I think they do this so when they are crtiicized they can turn to their magazine and say, see no one is controlling me, its says so on page 14 of the watchtower!

Arrogance won't get you far around here, jus' warning you.

The contradiction to the org is the fact that they present a large host of rules, but don't call them rules. They call them "bible principles". Even when the biblical support is weak, or non-existent. You know what they are, I don't have to explain.

The point is that people can sit in the meeting, read this, put their hand up and parrot a sentence from the paragraph in answer to a leading question, designed to reaffirm a point, all without stopping for a moment to realize... Wtf? We have hundreds of rules to I've by, all set by these MEN who claim to speak for God. So if God doesn't micromanage us, why do we let these men do it?

Elephant, Alexander was Great because of his military record.

The Pyramids are Great because they are the wonder of the world.

An organization calling their fantasy god "The Great Physician" does NOT make him Great - most especially not when he supposedly tells them things which plainly and obviously defy established and proven medical science just on their deranged whimsy.
