I think you might be missing the point.. The fact is that the WT exerts such control over its members, and yet prints garbage like this. If you disagree that the org is controlling, then please take a closer look at WHO decides what is "proper for Christians".

Is it micromanagement to tell people what kind of sex they can have as a married couple, what king of school they can attend, what kind of clothes they can wear, what kind of haircut they can get, what kind of car they can drive, what kind of TV show they can watch, what kind of music they can listen to, what kind of social gatherings they can have, what kind of medical treatment they can use, what kind of food they can eat, what kind of person they can marry, what motel to stay in at the assembly (which they have to go to, but they are told WHICH assembly, etc. etc. etc....

Would that be micro management? Just possibly? YA THINK???

Picture in your mind that the WT is a person, and you are married to that person. That person decides all these things for you, and then tells you how lucky you are that you have such freedom!

Is that freedom at all?

Honestly, some people are lazy/stupid and need/want to be told what to do all the time. These people willingly surrender their free will to another as a means of absolving themselves of responsibility and guilt.

But to say that this is the only way of life, and the best way of life, to live in such "FREEDOM" is a contradiction in itself. I sorry, I can't think of another way to put it more clearly.

There is no doubt in my mind that WT micromanages its’ members. Part of the definition of micromanages is: “Micromanagement also frequently involves requests for unnecessary and overly detailed reports ”

JWs are required to fill out monthly detailed reports of their field service activity: amount of time witnessing; magazine and other literature placement (whether brochures or books); number of return visits made; number of Bible studies conducted; etc etc etc .

Failure to turn such reports in will result in being placed on an inactive list and loss of privileges in the congregation.

If that ain’t micromanagement of an individual with an ill effect what is?

Think of it this way. Take this article to an Elder and respectfully point out the discrepencies between the paragraphs in the same article. Then the article and the Flock book. You will be in a meeting before you can say Miracle Wheat!!

i agree with lost gen. few will notice. they will answer the questions, sing a horrible song, blow each other about how uplifting the article was. probably even discuss how light their burden is.
