Von Meyer of Cedar lake Ind. was arrested Saturday for making threats against his wife and the school that was 1000 yards from his home. In the police search of his home- 47 firearms and ammunition were found.

So, who really is "the typical American gun owner"?

.. that you can own a musket. Because that is what it was refering to at the time. Simple. No one can complain that their rights are being taken away. Why would it make sense to take a sentence from 200+ years ago and apply it to the technology available today? In the same way that if you have a license to drive it means you have the right to drive a regular car, not an F1 car, a tank or a fighter-jet.

It also means intert forums should be heavily sensored since there was no internet when the freedom of speech clause was written.

You seem to have me all figured out, Simon.

I'm actually not afraid at all that my guns might be taken away. I don't believe it'll ever happen.

I'm incensed by the fact that all of you anti-gun/gun control folks are so misinformed and uneducated. You want people to take you seriously, yet your posts are full of misinformation. You refuse to grasp that maybe the problem in America is with society itself. That the media sensationalizes things, that GUNS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. Our flawed, frightened, violent, society is the problem. Until we learn to come together as a nation and a community and actually address the overall attitude of this country and it's mental health care inadequacies, nothing will ever change, in fact it will only worsen.

It is lazy and irresponsible to blame guns. Blame the conditions that make madmen take up guns and murder innocents and then TREAT those conditions.

You are all fooling yourselves if you think that making gun laws will get them out of the hands of bad men. It only leaves good men less able to defend themselves against bad men. I know you don't like to hear that, but is just the way it is. Do some research on Australia and how removing guns from citizens has worked out for them.

Gun control is not the solution. the solution is making help more readily available. It's going to be a long road, but we need to change the overall attitude and mindset of this nation as a whole. Period.

'the solution is making help more readily available.'

Obamacare? Gun people are usually against making help more freely available.

... which is why laws around publishing have been updated.

Although your free-speech law is dumb too: evidence = Westborough Baptist Church who apparently want to continue their hate chants at the kids funerals.

    Your laws are so awesome!

so sad. You value freedom so little that you seek to protect only that which pleases you. That isnt freedom. Thats being dictated to by the whim of petty people and is fine.. as long as they agree with you.

We value being able to say things you may not like.
