Why won't JWs have "civilized" debates with home owners?

wha happened, you had your chance to serve Jehovah. You blew it. Too bad for you.

Oh so u speak for Jehovah as well? What a loon. Let's look at what opportunities I "Blew"

Lack of education. If only I had listenned to the dubs, I wouldn't have wasted time educating myself to change professions. I would have been much better off dumb and losing income.

Pedo publishers. If only I had stayed in I could have watched the pedo's molest children and smile in agreement that the parents were at fault for not protecting them.

An ever changing doctrine of the end. I could have stayed longer and watched them both declare that the end is near, then play word games with the word near. And watch the GB make financial plans that would extend way beyond the next few years.

I get to live my life in poverty but the GB is in an Ivory tower with full benefits and not a financial worry in the world. Oh but they are God appointed so I shouldn't complain.

If I'm injured, I get to explain to a medical staff about the confusing pitfalls of using the wrong blood component and how God will abandone me if they make a mistake.

Need I go on? And besides, what are u doing here communicating with us mentally diseased apostates?

    AWatcher says:

We're not there to debate with householders.

We're searching for Jehovah's lost sheep.

If you don't want to serve Jehovah with us, then you're not who we're looking for.

Not taking a "no" personally.... that's a sales techinique on how to shake off rejection.

I am a non-jw. You know what your last sentence says to me? It says, "If I have to support my claim of having the truth to you, I can't, so I am going to tell myself that YOU are the problem and go to the next house." Doesn't that attitude contradict the notions presented in the first 2 pages of chapter one "What Does the Bible really Teach? - I have three of them that have been provided to me if you need one.

Sweetheart, if the WT were really serious about the salvation of others, you would be provided with real tools to explain your stance and honest information about other's stances - from Judaism, through Christianity, side-swiping Islam, getting a review of Buddhism and a real clue about Atheists so that you could sincerely overcome objections help them understand the truth, with respect to each perspective. They haven't. Ask yourself why you have to walk around half-informed? Why don't they promote the understanding of these other perspectives as the scriptures suggest?

Proverbs 18:17 "The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him." and Proverbs 18:2 "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his own opinion." Maybe take a look at 2 Cor 14 too.

Sadly, it doesn't appear that any of you are coming to my door with your opinion nor are you coming with your understanding. You come to my door with someone ELSE'S opinion that you don't understand and aren't equipped to substantiate.

    HERE'S THE TRUTH

Your machine's goal is to get you to find the most vulnerable of society who will put money in the contribution box. That's what you do for a spiritual living. Nothing more. You are a part of a sales organization. You are taught how to overcome objections at your meetings and you then pay (I mean, donate) for the materials to get more people to do the same. That's how MLM sales work. The jacked part of it is, you get no commission and the WT gets to realize a fresh residual income stream. Too bad for you.

James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers....

Grrr.... today, I'm having an emotionally tough day. I need to go and tame my tongue. I know why I can't be a teacher... *sigh*

Guess I'll be taking another long walk.

Thanks for the varied responses, everyone.

For those of you who actively discussed, good on ya. For those who really hated being there, I'm sorry. That must have been so crappy. I can't imagine being a part of a church that doubts your relationship with God because you don't want to go door to door.

A watcher, so you don't want to discuss things with householders. Tell me again what Paul, Jesus, and all the other disciples were doing whilst talking with Jews? I'm THINKING there was some discussion and bit of debate going on. Just a smidge. Aren't you meant to be emulating them?

I had a lot of householders tell me things that made a lot of sence and i rejected it for a long time.My honest answer, maybe its just humun nature. Maybe it just takes time to absorb.

That's not my experience as a JW for 40 years. I was always prepared to engage in debates with any householder, although I was perhaps since childhood more predisposed to tolerating critical reasoning and rational debate. Not quite sure where you are getting your ideas from.
