I think the JW ministry can best be categorized as "going after the low-hanging fruit." The people who "come into the truth" are at such a point in their lives that they will take hold on anything.

Having said that, it really isn't a bad thing. It puts some dignity and self-respect into their lives. They are pondering things which have been put off for most of their lives, and in some cases they leave their criminal ways behind the. Hooray for that.

Many of these people are on the lunatic fringe. Little do they know it when they first start studying, but they are about to go over the edge.

There is no debate with a JW. To them the watchtower(R) is right and everything contrary is wrong.

JW's don't really know what they believe as such, they just have the warm fuzzy feeling that the watchtower(R) is from god so must be correct. They think that if they have questions the watchtower(R) will answer them. Hence the: 'That's an interesting question. I'll research it and come back.'

I try to remember my JW mind set and I can only say I had a total reliance on the watchtower(R) and was afraid to research outside of it. But I did!

I wanted to learn about the apostles but the watchtower(R) wasn't very informative................all my research just lead to 'Do more for the watchtower(R)!'

No debate. Watchtower(R) rules in JW land.

a watcher - When are you going to start your own thread?

As a "householder' whose been visited many times over the years, i think their willingness to have long discussions is not what it used to be, say, ten years ago. I don't know, maybe it's just true in my neck of the woods...who knows. My all time favorite was the woman who was almost cursing and literally shaking the dust off her feet as she left, after i had recited a generous sampling of WT false predictions. -- A year ago i asked a couple at the door if they could call me, because it was an inconvenient time, and i would like to discuss with them the 144,000 doctrine, but they never got back to me.

    GOD's Word is Truth DC:

    1) " The truth " = truthful understanding of God's Word.

    2) Truth = verifiable facts

    3) If viewpoints contradict one another, only ONE can be true.

    4) Make sure of all things. Keep testing.

The first 3 points can be used to debunk all 99% of WT doctrine. You may reach an awakening dub by getting them to tell you what " Truth " is, and then asking them to explain what they have been teaching about the FDS for over 90 years prior to the nu-light. The root problem is that they trust the GB/FDS, men who are self appointed, over what God's word actually says.

So most are really incapable of having a civilized debate. The smartest indoctrinated dub may go a few rounds with someone, but it doesn't really matter. Why? It's been mentioned that JW's don't really care what you believe. It's true. If you match them scripture for scripture, in the end it will come down to trusting the GB/FDS. They may not even agree with the teaching, but they will follow it. Therefore, YOU must be the problem, YOU must not be sincere. Their fragile psyche cannot accept another alternative.

Here is a presentaion from the DC. It shows you the mindset of dubs who cannot reason. It's for the wonderous new tracts provided by the SLAVE.

    ( from my notes/very exact )

    Imitate Christ in your presentation:

JW: How do you view the future? Is it getting better, or do you feel things will get worse, or stay the same?

HH: I believe that with all the advances in science and medicine and tech, that things are getting better!

    JW: " [ thinking to self ] Hmmm...what would Jesus say.... I know! "

JW: I agree with you! Here is a tract!

    HH: Thank you!

Convention Speaker: See!? That is being a true witness! That is imitating Christ! We worship in spirit and truth! We are accurate in what we say!

So if Jesus believes that the world is getting worse not better, would he really tell the householder that he agreed with them? Or would he provide verifiable facts, aka Truth to the contrary? JW's must water down their own views during the initial visits because they simply cannot prove anything that that they say.

a watcher - Then why post at all if you have what appears to be such a low opinion of the members of this forum?

July 15, 2011 WT ‘’Well, apostates are 'mentally diseased', and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings." ‘’ 7 What is involved in avoiding false teachers? We do not receive them into our homes or greet them. We also refuse to read their literature, watch TV programs that feature them, examine their Web sites, or add our comments to their blogs.’’
