If the big change at the AGM meeting is dropping the literal 144,000...

That phrasing in the Dec. 15th WT is really strange. Especially the part specifcally targeting the "faithful apostles" as an example of who is anointed. Per JW doctrine, everyone who was a "true" Christian from 33 CE onward until around 1935 when the great crowd was "discovered" by Rutherford, was anointed, not just the 12 faithful apostles. Sounds like they're opening the door to first century Christians having the earthly hope, which would make sense if they're going to redefine the 144,000 completely.

If the GB actually make the change will this mean most stickem notes to put in all the old publications

With the 144,000 - a "Hallmark" JW doctrine if ever there was one - being (in some way) re-interpreted and perhaps being seen as figurative, the Watchtower exposes its related teachings to closer scrutiny by the rank and file. The House of Cards would collapse.

It's not dissimilar to the way (some) Christians deny the literal Biblical account of Adam and Eve: The figurative reading torpedoes so many hallmark Christian beliefs.

Where do you stop?? Ditto with Watchtower doctrines.

It is a fine digest spread out, or, cut to the chase, on this thread table.

fencing: your thoughts are "right on", because

There were Christians with an earthly hope in the first and all centuries, because the 144 000 are sealed OUT OF them. starting with Stephen.

The Wt can keep their 144 k koncept by just opening up partaking to all as per John 6, mentioed before.

let the angels do their sealing incognito.

    sealing does not mean anointing.

all sealed ones are anointed, but not all the anointed are sealed.

It may be just ,"much ado about nothing",which is usually the case. I guess we will know in a couple weeks.

I do hope it would be something that would wake-up a few more. But,most Witnesses go along with whatever they say anyway,so it won't matter.

They are getting extra paranoid about apostates though. One older pioneer accused this one brother of being an apostate for daring to have his own opinion about Syria.

ONE change would matter, at least to me, and that is the ONLY only that REALLY matters - that the Noachian flood was global ...............

To little time, man, too little time for all them empires and trade routes and cities to come into existence, too little time.

    .................

Searcher, as for the Kingdom Interlinear - I do not have it at hand - but the Greek word-for-word column and the translated column are based on two different manuscripts, look it up in the foreword. Hence differences.

Classic response when a "loyal" Witness is confronted by a non-Witness about a major change in doctrine: "Oh, we've always believed that!"

It can't be pleasant living in a thought-crime climate of fear and distrust like that.
