New Understanding of this Generation

Over the years, most—if not all—of those anointed ones have faithfully completed their earthly course.

Wrong. Go look at the numbers. There's more anointed now than there were 30 years ago.

We understand that in mentioning “this generation,” Jesus was referring to two groups of anointed Christians. The first group was on hand in 1914, and they readily discerned the sign of Christ’s presence in that year. Those who made up this group were not merely alive in 1914, but they were spirit-anointed as sons of God in or before that year.—Rom. 8:14-17.
    WTF did I just read????

The original "1914 Generation" doctrine I grew up with made more sense than this. Jesus said nothing about two groups of people. What a bunch of shit.

    The survivors & the rsurecteess.

Based on the understanding promoted in the WT, 2022 is just about as late as Armageddon could happen. Here is why:

    1. Back in 1914, everyone baptized was automatically anointed.
    2. You could be baptized at around 15 back then.
    3. In the 60s and 70s, you had to be old to be anointed. Remember, at the time, the door was understood to be closed in 1935. We also know that any replacements for an unfaithful anointed had to be old, almost the same age as the other anointed from the 1914 generation, otherwise, he had no privileges and was frowned upon. So, let’s go crazy and pretend a 30 years old back then exclaimed that he was anointed and still managed to be respected.
    4. The 1914 group had an average life expectancy of 73 years.
    5. The second group had an average life expectancy of 80 years,
    6. Since Jesus said “this generation”, he spoke of them as a group and therefore, calculations should include most of them, not individual exceptions. This is why average are actually necessary.

Considering the above, members of the first group were born before 1899 and passed away before or in 1972. Members in the second group were born before 1942 and can expect to live up to 2022.

So if Freddy died in 1992 then lets say a young anointed one of 18 years was alive, he would be 88 years old by 2070 and he would still be included in the the overlapping generations. That's almost 200 years since Russell and an American Civil War veteran would still be included in the overlap.

Oppostate: The problem with the exemple you provide is that the Freddy lived exceptionaly old and correct me if Im wrong, but I don't believe that any 18 years old ever claimed to be anoited back in the 1960s or 70s. For this thing to work, you have to think of averages and not exceptions.

I just thought of the fact that this new understanding makes the increase in number of the partakers irrelevant. Actually, we should rely on the 8 000 or so who partook about 3 years ago. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but 8 000 is not much. The society could easily run a small internal survey and get to know the exact number of people who professed to be anointed back in the 70s or 80s. I’m sure that number is very low.

The Borg keeps digging itself into a hole. When the end again fails to materialize they will have NO CHOICE but to extend the overlap to 3 overlapping generations. It is amazing JWs accept this. The WT could have kept the 95 teaching without a set end, but they MUST create a sense of perpetual urgency among the R+F, so they stop one step short of setting a date, but enough to keep dubs thinking it is right around the corner. Why people continue to trust them when they have been wrong so much in the past is beyond me.. Oh I forgot.. They use the BITE method thats how.

Another observation I have is that the GB is moving away from backing their outrageous ideas with scriptures, they are instead moving towards just asserting things, saying "we understand this or that" and having their self assumed power as the FDS be all the proof they need.

All they will need to do in 30 or 40 years time is say that "we understand that Jesus evidently meant 3 sucsessive overlapping generations" and whoever is still a JW then will lap up the urine they serve.

They can't set a date, so they set a date range.
You can bet that that range ends soon!

It could be presented like this

Hahahaha... "evidently Jesus is referring to generation based on the family unit : What is a family unit commonly made up of today ?

Grandparents, parents and children ... this generation can span 100 years or more . Also today it is not

uncommon for families to even reach 5 generations !!!
