So for now I am cautious because my experience with atheists on the internet thus far with how they often treat Christians has caused me to be cautious.

Did those atheists call you a swine? Or that YOU were a dog?

What you have shown is that your a guy that likes to have control over your message and you are definitely not being cautious when you come on a site that may have more non-believers then believers and refer to them as swine and dogs.

    Great way to start.

Christian guy Great use of logic using their own book to hang themselves.

I should also congratulate you for getting out of the JW frying pan and into the Christian fire. Your belief that you hold the truth of Christ and that you can't spend time on those who contradict your belief shows you gained very little from leaving the JW's.

You can continue on thinking that a book from god would encourage slaves to be subservient to their masters rather than overthrowing the system of slavery. Before you try to make any historical arguments look first at the Persians who freed the slaves of Babylon (Jews and others) because of their monotheistic religion of Zoroastrianism. They did all that 600 years before your Christ came and failed to free those who were enslaved.

Excellent reasoning... but I have a question.

Jesus preached the Good News of GOD and His kingdom.

    Mark 1:14-16 says:
14 Now after John was put under arrest Jesus went into Gal´i·lee, preaching the good news of God 15 and saying: “The appointed time has been fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has drawn near. Be repentant, YOU people, and have faith in the good news.”

Paul preached the Good News of GOD and His kingdom.

    Acts 28:30-31
30 So he remained for an entire two years in his own hired house, and he would kindly receive all those who came in to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God to them and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with the greatest freeness of speech, without hindrance.

So how are JWs preaching a "different" good news in this sense?

    I loved it.

This is something I wish I had come up with. Will certainly mark this for future reference.

I can see the beauty of the simple message the Apostles preached about the Kingdom Of God and the concentrated focus on Jesus Christ. Remember, it was my use of Jesus Christ's name that put me under suspicion from the elders and overseers. I was told "You have a unhealthy interest in using his name, we are under Jehovah's Kingdom and his is now ruling as King." I asked "When did God the Father ever give up control of the Universe to anyone, that's news to me and his Word denies that."

You threw those false teachers tricked by Bethel's proganda into a tailspin, a sprout of truth about the lord Jesus Christ might grow if God is willing (1 Corth 3:4-6). I printed out your article to study, thank you for a beautiful story and preaching the truth about our Master Jesus Christ! May he bless you for your courage and strenght displayed weilding the "sword of the spirit", you brought a Katana to their spoon fight. JWs brag they can't ever get Christendom to stay focused on any questions they asking, using a proof-text with much twisting and wiggling, they enjoy putting people on the spot like you did to them. They enjoy telling everyone in the Kingdom Hall how they ruffed up people's personal beliefs and "sent them packing to their Minister for additional information the followers were unable to explain to these self-appointed experts of the Bible.

I wonder how they felt, did it feel good to be on the receiving side of a Bible based spiritual lambasting? Your knowledge of God's Word and use of Jesus Christ's name makes the Cults unhappy, I love you Christian friend!

Excellent line of reasoning with JWs.

We atheists are not swine or dogs. We are people who only accept evidence. We use reason and logic, and therefore can't accept fairy tale explanations for where we come from.

In another thread, please share your "evidence" that Jesus is real, and created anything at all.

EverApostate, I've done plenty of research. Thank you. I'm sure the Bible we have today, regardless of how it may appear to have come down to us, is exactly the Bible God intended for us now to have. (I see its 70 books as evidence of this fact. Psalms was originally written and compiled as five seperate books and remains so divided in nearly all Bibles today, making our Bibles 70 books. The number 70 is always used in scripture in reference to things that are spiritually complete.)

Blondie, Interesting. It seems like the Watchtower Society tries to present a different picture of itself to people at the door than we know it to be. Your number crunching clearly proved that.

Fernando, Your linked info clearly shows the JWs admit to preaching a different gospel. Very helpful.

Giordano, As I have already stated a couple times, the words swine and dogs were Christ's words not mine. Words which simply referred to people with no appreciation for sacred things. People who he told his followers not to waste their time arguing with. I'm sorry for the offence. So you say this site might contain more unbelievers than believers. I was not aware of that. Don't worry. I'm pretty busy. I don't plan on crashing your party much longer.

Diest, You wrote, " You can continue on thinking that a book from god would encourage slaves to be subservient to their masters rather than overthrowing the system of slavery." Christ said his kingdom was not of this world. He said that if it was, his servants would have fought rather than have him turned over to Ceasar. Christ did not come into this world to end all social injustices. That he will do at his second coming. For the same reason Paul did not encouerage Christians to spend their limited free time trying to reform all of this world's inhumanities. And he certainly did not want them to be violently overthrowing governments which permitted slavery. Rather he encouraged them to spend their time sharing with people, including their slave masters, the Good News of Jesus Christ, which would greatly benefit people both now and eternally not just for the few years we live on this earth.

Jay, Sounds like you are still under the spell of the JWs. Too bad. As I have already clearly shown, they are false teachers. In more ways than I can here count. Jesus said the kingdom of God had drawn near because that kingom (with him as its king and all his followers as its subjects) was to be very soon established. Christ was enthroned as king of that kingdom immediately upon his ascension to heaven, very soon after speaking those words. Jesus Christ was "given all power in heaven and on earth" as soon as he retuned to heaven. (Matt. 28:18) No power remained for him to be given in 1914. So he could not have been enthroned a second time in 1914. Besides, if the kingdom that Jesus referred to was a kingdom that would be established in 1914 how could he have said that it had then drawn near? Unless "near" meant 1,900 years. It did not.

To understand Acts when it tells us that Paul preached the kingdom of God as well as the teachings of Jesus Christ we just have to remember what the kingdom of God is. It is God's people being ruled by God's Son. So when Paul preached the kingdom of God he was urging people to accept Jesus as their king and thereby become a subject of God's kingdom. Simple as that.

SaintLuis, Thanks. Glad to help. It felt good sharing the truth of God's word with JWs. It would have felt much better if I thought something I said got through to them. Sadly, it did not seem to.
