    Hello AGuest :o)

It struck me too - is Gail Bethea-Jackson a Doctor? The following description came up when I did a Google search on her and there was no indication on that page that she had a PhD:

    Bethea Jackson MSW, Gail
6178 Oxon Hill Rd Ste 302
    Oxon Hill, MD 20745
    (301)567-4751

    Master's Level Clinicians
Generally have a Master's degree in one of the following Mental Health disciplines: Social Work, Nursing, Professional Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy. These individuals are generally independently licensed in the state in which they practice. They provide various services including assessments and a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions. Many Master's Level Clinicians do not treat children and specific questions should be asked regarding the number and types of children treated for various mental health issues.

Whereas the following came up for the next practioner's name who was listed as having a PhD:

    Psychologists
Generally have doctoral degrees in the area of educational, child, clinical, educational or counseling psychology. Psychologists provide a variety of services including assessments, psychological testing, and most offer a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions. Most are independently licensed by the state in which they practice. Some psychologists have specialties in the area of treating children and adolescents.

The page I took this from was updated May 21, 2002, so I too was wondering whether Ms Jackson really is a Doctor......? Has anyone found anything which would confirm that she has a doctorate, and if so, of what description?

    Just wondering too.............

Sick sick sick!! I can't believe someone would put their credentials online with excuses like that!

People didn't know it would have a harmful effect back then?!

    This is sick spin-doctoring!

I am going to forward the instructions for locating cases involving the WTBS in federal courts to the Dateline NBC staff ASAP.

I am also going to inform them about the "spinning" and recent "damage control" occurring on the WTBS web-sites. They should know that this organization engages in coverups, just like the Catholic Church.

Where did they get this nut and how much did they pay her. When I was about 8 years old. That would be 36 years ago, my mother warned me about the old man that stood outside the 5 and dime in Moultrie Georgia.

I asked why he was dangerous. She said, he did things to little boys. Clearly she knew what a pedophile was. Clearly she knew that it was harmful to a child.

My mother has an 8th grade education and we lived in rural south Georgia.

This interview makes the Watchtower society look foolish.

Dearest CO (uh, Christian Observer... sorry 'bout that!)... peace to you!

Yes, exactly! From what I know, Ms. Bethea-Jackson's degree would put her on the level of a Registered Nurse (RN), and her certification from the Washington Institute of Psychiatry might raise her to the level of Nurse Practioner (NP), maybe even Physician Assistant (PA). However, like these two, she would still fall short of being a "doctor". Doesn't the "Society" know that? Sure they do.

To the rest of you dear ones, peace to you as well and I know it might seem like I'm beating a dead horse here, but the reason I said what I did and asked what I did is that it seems to ME that the WTBTS is using an unqualified individual to substantiate their position... TO THEIR MEMBERS! You know: "Well, the Society got a doctor's opinion on it and Dr. BJ says..."

Because of their BLIND faith, it would never even DAWN on most of them that, based on the credentials presented, the woman is NOT a "doctor" and calling her such is, well, deceptive and misleading. Sp much so that in Califorina, SHE... could lose her licensing for referring to herself as such: practicing (as a doctor) without being licensed as one. Licensing as a doctor and licensing as a therapist are not the same thing, as all licenses are NOT 'created equal'. At least, not in California. (My daughter is a 'licensed' cosmotologist - can she prescribe scalp medicine? Nope.)

But again, I do think that she is correct in that many people did not know. TRUST me, on this, folks, please... although most of US were 'savvy' for one reason or another, and like you I was consistently warned not to 'talk to strangers', too! But I can tell you that there are STILL.. TODAY... many folks today who just don't 'get it'. Call them ignorant, call them stupid, call them... whatever. But for many, it's just too unimaginable for them. They don't WANT to 'go there'. I mean, look at the reaction sometimes when it occurs - not the anger but the disbelief: "But he/she didn't LOOK like a molester!" Or "Stop talking about it! I can't stand it when people talk about it!" Or "Okay, it happened; I just don't want to HEAR about it!"

Sure, it's hard to believe that people thought/think that way, but they do. It is the TRUTH, and the "Dr." exploited that.

HOWEVER... an international organization that has published so much information on so many subjects, including this one specifically, does not have the luxury of using such ignorance as an excuse. That was my point. In all fairness to her, the "Dr." made a valid statement, and certainly one that would be made more by a therapist than a doctor. Doctors of Psychiatry and Psychology have been around, well, I dunno... a long time. However, by comparison, therapists such as LCSWs, MFTs, MFCCs, etc., are relatively new to the scene. Thus, the "Dr.'s" comment... based on what people knew/know or are willing to ADMIT they know/knew... is valid.

Yet, the VALIDITY of her comment does NOT apply in this instance for the simple reason that certainly THESE people... those on whose behalf she appears to be speaking... the WTBTS... knew. Because the EVIDENCE, their own articles on the matter, prove it. Thus, I find it quite "curious" that they would:

    1. Utilize a licensed therapist, versus a licensed DOCTOR, to make such statement (but then, what doctor, who still wanted to show his/her face among his/her colleagues, would?);

    2. Refer to her AS a doctor, when based on the credentials presented, she is not (at least where I live); and

    3. Have her say such a thing anyway, given the "evidence" regarding them to the contrary.

I was in NO way defending the WTBTS. Not at all. Not in any way, size, shape or form. I was 'marvelling' over what seemed apparent to ME: that they consider their members SO stupid (and apparently they are right) that this will 'fly'.

    Again, I bid you peace!

    A slave of Christ,

    SJ

This may interest you. I have it on 100% assured authority that the Elders in the UK were authorised to reopen all sex abuse cases to ensure that they were dealt with properly. I know for a fact that this has begun. Hmmmm I wonder why they would do that?
