Not sure why I bother, since most posters have already picked apart the (straw-man) locic of YK. However, my 2 cents (which have already been mentioned by Ginny) re: Telephone recording.
In all of Canada, and most US states, anyone can record any conversation which they are part of. (Of course, recording a conversation which you are not part of is generally illegal, unless you have a court warrant for a wiretap). Since Bill Bowen was recording his own telephone conversation, he was likely well within the law (unless KY is an exception to the "no notice required" laws).
I agree with YK (I can't believe I just typed that!!!) The snippet of the tele-con was too short! I move, and hope that YK will second the motion, that Bill Bowen post the entire telephone conversation on the silentlambs.org website! Bill, if you can't host it, contact me and I would be thrilled to host it at Quotes.
Perhaps posting the entire conversation will eliminate the (unlikely) possibility that NBC deliberately used out-of-context quotes. Also, it would be good to have a prologue describing the circumstances around the recording -- was it in response to an active case? Was Bill just doing his elder job, when he heard this and this it was caused him to have a crisis of conscience?
YK, perhaps you could help by offering to Bill to make the transcript to post along with the recording? That is, if your injuries (as seen in your icon) have healed.
