A lot of this can be blamed on Western Society. I travel throughout the US and I see evidence of it everywhere. The UK's way ahead of us in this regard. Go Brits!
Are the MEN apostates more imp. than the WOMEN?

LARC,
That's exactly what I mean! Thank you for putting it into different words.
Do you think either method has been more 'successful' at helping people leave the borg?
I know in my personal situation, I could not have cared less about doctrines. It was all about the messed up personal lives of everyone around me. It was only after I was OUT that I began to learn/doubt the 607 BCE thingy (and the rest of their doctrines).

Hey Zen, if that is true, why are most of the contributors from the UK of the male persuasion.
Lisa, I think I will get out the lighter fluid and light the charcoal, if you go get the marshmellows and weenies, so we are ready if the flames begin. Seriously, Lisa, I think that both the analytical and interpersonal nurturing are of equal importance. I know there have been emotional threads where I was at a loss as to what to say. Several women would show up and be invaluable in their empathey, sharing, and their warm advice. Another thought: some of the analytical stuff can shake people up and get them to think. However, it is the nurturance that helps them get over the trauma of leaving.

Lisa..perhaps many capable woman have other priorities. We all know that the wives of Kent, Alan, and Simon have been long suffering with all the hours they spend with their activities. I'm sure this has meant more family responsibilities for their wives. Isn't that a major contribution? Isn't there something to be said for raising a healthy contributor to society? (raising children Borg free)
Then, out spoken woman aren't really well recieved here...Now are they!

Ahem, after the somewhat shocking experience I just went through here, I'll try to add a few thoughts on the actual question...
I guess most of the publicly visible work in the exJW scene is done by men. This reflects our society pretty well.
It is about both the way women are 'trained' to act in our society and the way our society treats men vs women. It is basic role theory. Women in an intellectual role are often received badly, especially by some males who seem to feel threatened. So, many intelligent women feel forced to accomodate the social pressure and gain acceptance by playing on her role as nurturer, harmless entertainment and sex object. You don't have to read many threads on this board to see how this works.
We've had -- and thankfully still have -- a number of highly skilled women who contribute their insights here. However, I have seen again and again how intelligent and outspoken women on this board are constantly attacked to make them fit into a more humble and socially acceptable role. Thus, many wonderful women have left the board or at least reduced their participation significantly. That is a sad development.
I have communicated with many very intelligent exJW women and have greatly appreciated insights they share with me in private. When I encourage them to share their material with the board, or on other public fora, they are reluctant to do so. Perhaps they know they are overstepping some social boundaries by putting forth their ideas, and chose not to bother with the inevitable attacks from males with larger egos than brains (and, may Iadd, assisted by women more comfortable in classic roles).
Again, our loss.

I think the men and women on this forum such as the ones you've mentioned Lisa, are both essential. They compliment each other.

PLEASE PLEASE don't let this turn into a flame war......
I agree with most of the assessments.
I'm wondering though, do you feel that access to technology plays a role? Personally, I do.
Our society encourages men to the more 'analytical' careers....such as engineering etc. Therefore, most with access to technology are men.
I believe they are the ones who hold positions career wise which allow them things like server space, technical know how etc to do something like host a DB, etc etc.
Not that I don't love our men, just pondering out loud.
