    minimus,

Can I just seek a little clarification?

    In good standing with whom?

The Elders, the Congregation, the Governing body, the Society or Jehovah or some combination or all?

It would help me to know that.

    Minimus;

Based on the definition, I'm really not in good standing,HO.

"Good standing" in who's point of view or definition ?

The WT and all believing associates? You can deceive them for years and you know it.

The WT god Jehovah? Apparently this god can be deceived also, the WT has been doing it for years.

You? Apparently you can be deceived and be deceptive also.

So I'm saying, the WT organization thinks your in good standing or not, you think your in good standing or not where is your point of reference? My feeling is it should be from yourself, you should feel on your own and not from someone else's point of view. If your still in the religion to appease others it can't be a very fulfilling life.

    No.

I can't say God sucks, because he doesn't exist. It's a damn shame if people let the idea of "Him" ruin their lives, and it is wonderful if people use "Him" to give their lives structure that they already wouldn't have had. It all depends on the person how God benefits\hurts them.

    Which God? Whose God?

I believe in some higher power who created "the beginning of the beginning." Sounds kind of vague. I believe this higher power is not a religious God. He is a God in a sense of being everyone's beginning. Proof that someone/something somewhere has the power to create life. I don't believe that this higher power is controlling any events here and now. That is just not logical. This higher power created the conditions for man to evolve to the point where he is able to eliminate himself from the existence that this God has created. If anything, god is not proactive today. God will watch and see if what he had started long ago was in vain. If anyone has proof otherwise, I would like to see it. This all said, I still have hope in my heart that this higher power will someday help out the sad situation on this planet. You can take the person out of the religion, but it's harder to take the religion out of the person.

    mackin,

My proof of God's existence and my relationship with him are purely subjective. God cannot be proven, only experienced. Faith cannot be justified, only vindicated.

If you can sleep without a God watching over you, then congratulations. Atheism is as diverse a faith as any other, so I'll take it that you cannot prove God doesn't exist, but you simply do not involve him in your life. Very good.

However, I need him and he is real to me. I can't explain how I know, except by subjective experiences that might seem cheesy when I try to explain them to a third party.

    Loving Kindess,

I really enjoyed your comment. I was seeking to see if anyone would comment on what you wrote and all those fine scriptures you shared, but found none. I wonder why so few of the friends study their Bibles. We have much in common. I was baptized into the JW religion at the tender age of 14 too. And I believe it was either in 1962 or '63, I just do not recall. I sometimes wonder if I should get rebaptized because I got baptized I believed the JW Society was the 'trutth'. I hadn't realized at that time that Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and life. Where were you raised. Albany Oregon?

Your middle name isn't 'Rae' by any chance? LOL! Your post sounds alot like one my sister would post. And I want you to know, she and I believe what you wrote. I can always tell a good student of the Bible. It is so true.......ask the Father for wisdom and he gives it to you......

    IN ABUNDANCE!

I'd like your e-mail address...mine is [email protected]

    love,

Good standing refers to , before God, doing what is expected and believing what you are doing. I'm not refering to other's perception of whether you are truly in good standing. You could be a murderer or a thief and no one may know about it. Before God, you are not in good standing.

I do believe in God, but I never pray. For a long time I questioned whether there is a God, but I now believe there is too much evidence that there is a higher power out there.

If people want to say goddess, that's a possibility too.

I don't believe in the same kind of God I did as a JW. That was the hard part for me to reconcile in my mind, that God wasn't a vindictive and a harsh executioner.

What he/she is, I don't know, but I think there is something out there.

I'm studying advanced anatomy/physiology and it's hard to sit through hours of discussion about the many details of the human body and how everything works and not wonder....did someone/something design this incredible machine? I'm just not ready to go there again....

1st John 4:7: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is Born of God, and knows God.
1st John 4:8: He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love.
