Just because a person believes in God , it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy life.

I believe in God. I am not a follower of christianity nor any religion. I have read many of the worlds great spiritual writings and have discovered at their core there is nothing more than propaganda with a political agaenda.
I have a fairly simple philosophy, and that is to make everyones interaction with me positive and uplifting. This is not always possible, but reflects my own persuit of perfection. I believe that there are unseen energies around us, which can be harnessed once we come to understand and exept them.
Hmmmmm ... I'm starting to sound like a charactor in a Star Wars movie talking about "The Force". You think maybe George Lucas was on to something here?????? Now where did I put that dang light saber????

This is one of the more interesting threads in a while, let's not kill it trying to evangelize
or argue about the trinity. If that's your trip, please start a thread of your own.Anton

I always believed in God, although I was pretty pissed at Him when I left the WT. I believe in the Christian faith, however organized religion will have no place in my life. Too oppressive!

I have a lack of belief in gods. I am an atheist.
I am not an agnostic. As Robert Green Ingersoll said that agnostics are atheists seeking social acceptance. All agnostics are either theistic or atheistic - you either believe in God/s or you don't.

Donkey,
Great post! Atheism is about belief. Agnosticism is about knowledge. I do consider myself an agnostic atheist, though. I prefer it over being a gnostic atheist.
BTW, Ingersoll rocks. Some Mistakes of Moses is a cool read.

Rem,
Thanks for the acknowledgement. One of the great things we do where I work at is something called "inquiry review". It works as follows:
When someone gives a presentation the audience is encouraged to participate in "inquiry review". Normally, our first reaction after a presentation is to want to immediately question the presentation. Where I work you have to first earn the right to question the presentation by specifiying what you enjoyed about the presentation and then only can one ask questions. As an xJW we are so cynical and we question everything - trust nothing - hence we are so quick to pounce on the viewpoints of another. I know I am guilty of that nearly every day but I have found that engaging in - and being forced to engage in "inquiry review" after sitting through presentations at work I now look for the positive in those presentations.
So thanks for your response - it reminded me of that.
Getting back on key here - my personal view is that God was conceived to explain that which science couldn't. Now that science is progressing to the point where is "touching" on areas previously reserved for "god" one wonders if all god will be good for is to explain death and cope with death.

minimus,
You called me "wrong" for stating that a Watchtowerite doesn't have to believe in God to be one in good standing. As is typical of you, you just pulled that idea out of your ass. You don't think. You just take meaningless polls. Thinking people figure stuff out on their own. Fools just get attention by asking stupid questions and enjoying some (but not all) stupid answers to those stupid questions. It's great entertainment for fools, so it's great entertainment for you.

Farkel is right, you do not have to believe in God to remain in good standing in the Watchtower Society. Of course you'd have to keep that fact under your hat and continue to go thru the motions, but no-one will question your core beliefs if you appear to be "walking the talk".
He's absolutely right. I dare you to prove his statement wrong. Do something IMPORTANT for a change and address his comment, which is EXACTLY how I feel, too.
Otherwise, you can just go on being the fool.
