Hi Concerned Mama
I heard about that on the radio ... the director (I think it was) was being interviewed and the other people on it said it was good and amazingly managed to be humerous at the same time. One I definitely want to watch.

"except for the flaming patriotism that some americans display"
You mean like during WWII in Europe when they were getting the s**t bombed out of them? Can you really blame us?

What do Canadians think of Americans? We love to rant and rave about the violence, seemingly never-ending brash displays of patriotism, their loudness, vulgarity, yadayadayada.
Then at every chance we get (less often now that our dollar is practically worthless) we
drive, fly, boat, bike, walk, paddle or crawl our way to our great neighbour to the south and
shop, sightsee, hike, vacation, visit, eat, swim, etc. etc. etc.
New York is the best city on earth. The opera, museums, Central Park, opera, ballet, restaurants, opera, Carnegie Hall, did I mention opera?
Good job we helped you fight the Japs then eh?
We were all in it TOGETHER remember!

"Patriotism is a childhood disease of nations, like measles." - Einstein (paraphrased)
thichi,
a) you can blame the US governemt for that...the individual american is not responsible
b) the situation is the same today...you will bomb the shit out of iraq
Americans are weird, but ya gotta love them.
I think most people are able to make a distinction between individual Americans and American government policy. People are people wherever you go it seems, and while we all have our cultural differences, I think if we are willing we get along just fine.
I think it is a great country with good and hospitable people. It is facinating the different cultures that make it up depending on what state you visit.
I would have to give a thumbs down though to the excess of American patriotism, racism, guns, commercialism, the war on drugs and their foreign policy. But imo these things have little to do with the people themselves, and more to do with the society they are in.
Path
A past generation of Americans had the good "sense" to invent the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society .

Good grief! Not THIS one again!
Britain has stood by the USA during so many other world crisis' since WWII. It's like having a friend that you have borrowed money from, and then after you pay it back, they keep reminding how nice they were to lend it to you in the first place, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
Besides, the US had two very profitable years before entering WWII. We didn't enter UNTIL we, ourselves, were attacked at Pearl Harbor. It's not like we were some shining savior that gallantly rushed to defend the British because THEY NEEDED US.
Hmmm...lots Americans on this thread..he he
I'm very nice and polite. I also cuss once in a while. Don't carry a gun, but have taken firearms classes. Got an A. I don't mind criticism, as long as it's fair.
