Why would an omnipotent God sacrifice his own son to himself to save us from himself?
He could have just written off our rebellion, donkey, but he didn't. Why not?
Part of it is respect for our free will. Had he just negated our rebellion with a wave of his hand, he would have, in effect, said that our ability to choose was of no account, and that we are not truly creatures with free will.
Second, having taught us that our choices matter to US, he showed how much they mattered to HIM by sending his son to die that way. That's how much he values our choice to serve him. He put that up there as a kind of testament to his value of each of us as an individual.
Third, he shares our pain of death. He is a God who holds absolutely nothing back.
Fourth, he shows us that death is not the end of our lives, because if he could re-create the second most powerful person in the universe, he can certainly re-create any one of us. So the dreadful penalty of sin is defanged.
Fifth, if someone had to reconnect the Divine with the earthly, then it would have to be someone we could trust to judge us mercifully - hence, Jesus' earthly ministry.
God is the greatest teacher, and he spares nothing to teach us that in a huge and chaotic universe, we truly do matter as sapient, spiritual creatures who can choose what side to take. Jesus' sacrifice takes on great meaning if we learn to value ourselves.
Does any of this make sense or am I tweaking on caffeine?
CZAR
: Does any of this make sense...
No.
...or am I tweaking on caffeine?
You're tweaking on religion and that is much worse for you than caffeine!

Does any of this make sense...
What REALLY doesn't make sense is that God knew all along this would happen. But.......what the hell. What's the big deal of 20 to 40 billion people who have died because of sin. To god it's nothing. At least through all these deaths and suffering he gets to get vindicated in the eyes of someone.........I'm not sure who that some one is.....but it's some one.
Yes.....now ALL creation will know he is supreme and has provided a way out through his Son who got lost sometime after he died for our sins and forgot to deliver us...... like he got lost when he was 12. He gets lost alot.
MYTHOLOGY IS WONDERFUL SH#% ISN'T IT. The gods and goddesses of Greek and Roman mythology were every bit as quirky and illogical as Jehovah or Yahweh or whatvever tetragramatonesque name you choose.
Adam sinned. You agree. Therefore cursing the entire human race. Now, don't be asking "well, why!? etc..." Just accept it, cuz you know it's true.
Actually, quite a few people don't agree that Adam sinned, and for good reason I might add. There are even more people who don't think that Adam ever even existed. Read a biology book on why they think that, at least that book has numerous provable facts. Also, nobody has to accept anything because they don't know that its true. In fact, most peole know its false so maybe you're the one that needs to accept something.
What really bugs the crap out of me about people who claim to be my followers are always so friggin arrogant. They act like just because they're following some delusional book written that all other people should close their eyes and get reemed in the same way they're being reemed. Look, if you wanna follow your own warped version of dad and I that's fine, but please, don't try to push it off on others. It only makes us look like idiots.
It only makes us look like idiots.
You two do not need any help to look like idiots......you have for a long time.
When your dad killed thousands of women children and babies.......several times over....he looked like an idiot.
When he allowed his' favorites' to live when they sinned and melted others who did the same thing.....he looked like an idiot.
You never came back......and are an idiot!
Jah-Eshua

Yeah, I can't really argue with that one. What you've just stated is why you shouldn't spend so much time drinking vodka. Sorry about that stuff people. Truth be told, however, lots of stuff was lost in the translation. If it would have been translated the way it was supposed to have been translated a lot more people would be getting it on now. Oh well, I'm off to get drunk.
Seriously though, we'd never be able to look like such morons without the help of people who want to follow us. Its possible to screw up pretty badly on your own but with the help of these people, we acheive heights that we'd never be able to reach on our own.

I believe czar gave the closest discription of what I remember the JW's teaching of the ransom sacrifice (or should I say it jogged my memory a bit)....it centered mainly around Jehovah's sense of justice...a perfect life for a perfect life....
At the time it made sense to me. Adam was perfect. He sinned and lost perfection for mankind. A ransom of equal value was needed to buy that perfection back. Jesus came to earth and gave a perfect life to redeem the right to perfection for mankind. Justice was served.
I supposed if you believe in the Bible this makes sense. I don't have that faith at the moment so I don't subscribe to this idea. However I respect others right to their beliefs.
