Jesus Sacrifice - How Stupid and Illogical

I've always wondered why Jesus, hanging on the cross or stake (take your pick) would ask his father to take this cup away from him.
After his whip-wielding riot at the temple, the odd and sundry miracle here and there including but not limited to the raising of the dead, how could Jesus doubt his superiority over the human race among whom he was intended to walk?
Jesus' sacrifice cannot recompense for the lives we mortals live, simply because he led a life that is nothing like what we mortals live.
I'd be able to relate to Jesus as my recompense for sin if the best he could have done for Lazarus was to weep.

Eric,
***I'd be able to relate to Jesus as my recompense for sin if the best he could have done for Lazarus was to weep. ***
A rather profound observation. Apparently Jesus led a very extrodinary life, the bible record indicates that he was teaching adults in the synagogs, at a very tender age.
So your thoughts as to living a normal 'imperfect' life are significant, when considering redemption.

Lilacs- You said you still believe there is a God. So what are you going to do about it? Just let this "God" pass you by, not knowing what will happen to you when you die. What if you are all wrong, and everything the Bible says is actually true (which it is), what are you gonna do now?
When you stand before the Almighty God after your death, and He asks you "Why should I let you into heaven?" What are you gonna say? "Because I denied you, and Your Word. I blasphemed your name and ridiculed you. But now I know you're real, let me in. I actually wasn't too bad."

Eric, You said,
" I'd be able to relate to Jesus if...the best he could have done... was to weep."
SO, if Jesus had been a normal person like you, you would appreciate his loss of life?
AS a great superhuman person, you think the loss nothing?
This is like saying King David died for you and you would have put more value on it if it
had been his stable boy.
You talk like He went through no pain, and gave up nothing. I beg to differ with you.

Calvinist - Do me a favor. Proove the accuracy of the bible. Why should Lilacs even buy into the heaven and hell concept? The bible is a book, not something to live by. Now, proove the bible is accurate, proove it is the "Word of God." Give it your best shot.

2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, correcting, rebuking, and training in righteousness..."
That is all the proof you need, the Bible itself declares itself as the Word of God. God does not lie. She also said that she believes in a God, so why do you not believe what He says?
And the Bible is definately something to live by...
2 Peter 1:3
"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness."

2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, correcting, rebuking, and training in righteousness..."
Simply amazing! That's really your answer? So if I were to write ...
1 NameWithheld 3:2 "So whatever things Namewithheld write are true, and benefitial for all things"
that makes it true!!!!???? Ha ha ha ha. You are a very stupid person if you are THAT gulible. So do you beleive that Hank is going to kick your ass too? Cause Hank wrote that list himself, and the list says that whatever Hank writes is true.
You fundys never cease to amaze me.
If I'm not mistaken the book of morman puports to be god's word too. Come to think of it, so does the Koran, etc, etc.

Hey Calvin Klein,
"All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, correcting, rebuking, and training in righteousness
Did you know a harlot was the one who decided to put that in the bible? It's true. See who decided, which writings of the many hundreds of writers who wrote about Jesus,....would be writings that would become the Bible. That happened in the 4th century.....did you know that?
I don't even think if I remember right that God spoke to these "men" ....who decided which books would go in......telling them which ones to pick. Gee there were so many....and they differed in meaning about Jesus too! Many thought of him as a myth.....still others thought he was real. They won. They had the "others" killed off who didn't agree with them a few years down the road.
That was the start of REAL CHRISTIANITY.
I hope this helps
