Do you really think that removing the drugs will cause criminal gangs to pack up and go home? They will simply trade in something else or people or even more dangerous drugs.

Would it be better to go back to prohibition and have people wanting to drink alcohol ? hmnn ....

YES! Did we not learn anything from Prohibition? All we have is a drug underworld and a Government that has taken away our civil rights in the name of the War on Drugs. Asset forfeiture is one example were the Police become the judge and jury, right on the side of the road if you or someone with you has contraband. You can loose your boat, car or home, without even a court review.

In the jails, you have drug related prisoners doing hard time for a "victimless" crimes.....

The Libertarians are right on this issue.

in the same way that alcohol and tobacco are

I think the laws should be even stiffer of the availability of alcohol. At least hard liquor anyway. Beer...eh...don't care.

I think all drugs should be legal, not just the ones the medical industry makes billions of dollars on every year. I think the drugs people want to use recreational should cost bookoo $$$ and the drugs needed to control arthritus pain, for seniors or disabled people or people on low income for example, should be free.

Thats how I feel and I'm stickin' to it. This opinion is based on the perspective of a US citizen. I can't say how I would feel about it if I were in another country. All I know is here, medicine is outrageous! It should be a crime what we are charged for medicine.

Legalize 'em all. Everyone. But make the government the source so that the quality and strength are the same everywhere.

    Yes.

The current 40 year old 'War' on drugs is an abysmal failure. I can get crack or meth just as easily as I can get beer @ 7-ll.

It needs to be changed. Either you legalize it, regulate, and tax it OR you kill everyone who does drugs. This middle of the road crap doesnt work.

How can you say "I dont want people walking around jacked up on heroin" when they ALLREADY ARE! Just becaue you legalize drugs doesnt mean that EVERYONE is going to start using them.

The same people who use now are going to be the same people who use when its legal. You cut out all the Violence associated with the profit and you free up the Justice system to deal with more important crimes such as Murder and Rape.

Yes or No, the current way of doing things NEEDS to be changed.

I suppose it's the Illegalness of any drug that bumps up the sale value!

Crack etc; and other harder drugs would still be around, the gangs would still play.

"Softer" drugs would not be as costly.........well apart from Mr.Tax man -would take his share.

So all these hard drugs that people become addicted to and dependent on and absolute wrecks because of ...

... would suddenly become safe and nice just because the legal status changed?

Marijuana? Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cocaine? Yes, I have mixed feelings about this one..if you legalize it and more people start using it then this will definitely raise the crime rate...more theft and robbery to support a habit...if you don't legalize it then you have the status quo onte...and that's no good. People wouldn't be going to jail for having it though. Its not a good drug IMO, but just like cigarettes and alchohol..people are going to do it anyway so we mind as well make it safe.

Heroin? Yes with the intent to eradicate its use all together and offering comprehensive prgrams for addicts to get over using it physically and mentally. Free clean needle programs would also have to happen. This also makes its use cleaner and cuts down on HIV trnsmission via dirty needles

LSD? Yes, if anything to repeal the mandatory sentence of 5 years prison for 1 gram....unfortunately you get busted for the weight of whatever is used to hold the LSD...so say if you had some LSD on a piece of watermelon and got busted...thewieght of the watermelon would determine how many years you would goto jail..For what? For hallucinating? Are you crazy?

    Speed/Meth? I don't know ask the Air Force...*LOL*

Designer Drugs? Some of them yes...stuff like GHB? No way..they clean circuit boards with that crap! I have take things like 2 PCB that were very very strong and not for the average tripper and I'm not sure if it would benefit the general public one way or another. X? Yes if it were the real stuff like they used ti give housewives in the 60's...

Soon Salvia Divinorum will be on the DEA's Schedule A? list andi ts just a shrub for chrissakes! Should I go to jail for a 5 minute hallucination that hurts no one? You tell me... I know they already outlawed it in Australia...

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer
