    Not Former said;

You were postulating about jws realizing the bible teaching serves only the governing bodies' hope of salvation..

I believe you are on to something!!!!

More and more,,,,its all about the governing body. ""Our future kings,, the governing body"". Its all about them.

And they can say F.U. to the rest of the rank and file and whoever else.🤐

LHG wrote you were raised in a Catholic household upbringing..

    Good for you.

That way you can easily purge yourself from this 2 class unscriptural belief and harmful paradise earth doctrine.

I dont think anybody,,,,,really can vouch about an afterlife.

    Good for you!!!!!

This stupid "figurative" approach makes no sense whatsoever.

Not even from a human standpoint. LOL!

    Now it's 20,000 or so.

It should be 8 million+ if they were taught Scripturally. The partaking is to proclaim Jesus' death, not to proclaim that you feel you are chosen to rule with him.

    Say it ain't so

We don't know how many there will be.

"WE DON'T KNOW" seems to be their new go-to answer for everything. We'll just have to wait and see. Now get back to work you worthless slave!

It never made any sense anyway.

When you read about the numbers of disciples at Pentecost right after Jesus death, and the growth within the first two hundred years by ancient writers and historians, their were 144,000 "anointed" over a thousand years ago.

Whole congregations in New York City started partaking in the late 1970s giving Ted Jaracz and Freddy Franz "conniptions" (as mom would say).

Whole congregations in the 3rd World have been partaking for years. Putting the Society in the awkward position of #1. ignoring it, #2. Removing elders & disbanding remote congregations, thereby hurting "growth" statistics. Watchtower chose #1.

Over on the Reddit forum,,,,,,, it looks as if its covered in the December 2024 watchtower.

About the literal number 144,000 " conspicuously" left out.

    How convenient.....

Drop that literal number and they can push their narrative as far as they can. Overlapping generations,, then dropping the 144,000 number altogether. They can kick this can down the road indefinitely!!!!!!

Paradise earth,,Armageddon,, just a harmful ploy and mind trick to keep the $heeples working & indoctrinated!!!!

    The math never worked.

    Estimated 1st century Christians to about 320AD = 7,000,000

Estimated martyrs during that time = 2,000,000 (due to heavy persecution)

Add the faithful to death in the following 1500 years the estimate is many millions more.

I read Foxe's Book of Martyrs when I left JW. The persecution was cruel and horrendous, nothing like what the JW "faithful slave" has gone through. (My favorite martyr, Perpetua, sniff) Boiling oil thrown on then, skinned alive, fed to wild animals... I knew for sure the JW interpretation of the little flock was BS.

Just do the math with any adjustments to the estimated numbers...the math does not support the JW dogma. And at some point they were going to have to down play the number.

This is just my take on the whole thing.

PS. My brother, elder, kept track on spread sheets the numbers reported in the annual report. There were some years I think in the 70's that the WT did not report the partaking numbers. He knew something was up.

It will save the yearly embarrassment of counting the ever increasing number of partakers!

{Sigh,,,} If the rumour is true we may as well change the name on this forum because it trully is a whole other religion at this point!

    Dagney I read Foxe's Book of Martyrs........(sniff!)

oh my heavens yes! It makes my little book of bible stories look amateur!

As far as I can can, there is little 'Theological' blow back, in regards to other doctrines.

In fact as mentioned by others, it solves the problem of never-deminishing number of those who claim to be anointed, the nearly forgotten date of 1935 ... plus it allows for others (read younger) future GB members, to discover that they are anointed after all.
