Do JWs believe Jesus is an angel?

You’re welcome to believe whatever you like. Not seeing any evidence for it though. Once you give a meaningful definition of ‘inspired’ I might reconsider my position. See also 1 Peter 3:15.

f I looked at scripture as you do Jeffro i would not care what Joe Shmoe had to say or intended?

That makes no sense. Clearly you don’t understand how I look at scripture (a further unfounded assumption on your part) because I consider it in its historical and political context, which necessarily is concerned with what the authors intended.

I don't know why you started another thread virtually identical to the one I started on Jesus being an angel.

Anyway, lets say that you can find enough "evidence" to satisfy yourself that Jesus is only a created angel. What have you succeeded in doing? Either you break God's law by letting a spirit into your being to guide you, or you don't belong to Christ... our Savior.

"If any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his". - Romans 8: 9

I can't see an upside to your position. It doesn't make any sense. Why would you go way out of your way to put yourself in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario?

What kind of logical reasoning could drive a person to damn themselves? Please explain.

It makes perfect sense Jeffro since the discussion centered solely on inspiration and that is the only aspect I was responding to.

If I, like you, believed scripture was uninspired, I would not care what Joe Schmoe had to say or intended?

I assumed nothing about your interest in historical and political contexts.

So. It’s my position that has more respect for the original intent of the writings rather than retconning with later reinterpretations.

And it’s still not clear how your statement can be interpreted as a question.

It can't and it was not meant to be. The question mark was a cut & paste mistake.

the discussion centered solely on inspiration

But you haven’t provided any meaningful definition of what ‘inspiration’ actually is or how it supposedly works. It is indistinguishable from ‘a thing you believe because some other people made something up’.

In contexts like this, responses like, "You believe in God, don't you?" or ""You believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, don't you?" are classic thought stoppers. They put the brakes on rational dispassionate discussion through a rhetorical religious test. The one who says them is simultaneously saying they will not engage on that topic and that someone who doesn't pass the test is not worthy of being taken serious.

It's not just JWs who use thought stopping triggers phrases.

That’s a joke. The thought stopper came on page 3:

Angels can’t be demonstrated to actually exist so as a fictionalised trope, there is a fair amount of latitude for ‘defining’ what can be classified as an angel.

As such, it is entirely trivial that JWs consider Jesus to be an angel independent of other denominations’ characterisations of what it means to be an angel.

I can’t understand the mentality of people who are not interested in a topic themselves so want to stop it.

I didn’t try to stop anything. You’re entirely welcome to provide evidence for angels whenever you like. And you’ve continued to ignore my actual point that I elaborated on after that.
