It wasn't a suggestion at all! You've failed to see the irony I intended. I believe an exiting dub is caught "between a rock and a hard place" - if they fade, it'll always be in the background, if they DA.....well, we all should know what that can mean.

However, I've tried the fade, for what it's worth, and now I'm not so sure it's best. But each to his own.

Who needs a new identity, anyway? That's a bit overrated. I'd rather not play by their rules. But, as long as you're not dead and you're not DA'd or DF'd, you're still a Witness in their eyes.

This is the issue, in a nutshell. It's like the Mafia: they won't let you just leave! Especially if you've occupied some "prominent" position in the "family." As one poster said, Those in the congo who are having their own doubts are going to wonder why somebody who seemed so immersed in the whole thing just disappeared. As for the poster who said, There are two reasons why people just disappear -- they did something wrong, or someone hurt them in some way... Well, it's to the elders' advantage for the others to think that way. Otherwise, the fault would have to lie with the congregation, or the organization, or, (gasp!) the "Truth" itself. Minimus is now feeling the brunt of a carefully orchestrated "blame game" because he is committing the unforgiveable sin: He dares to view this house of cards as totally irrelevant. They just HATE that.
