How about Jonathan Catanzaro? He's the nephew to Angelo. Last I heard about him he was serving somewhere in Minnesota, I think.

    Hi Tina,

Glad somebody remembered Silva (I still can’t remember his first name). Waiting also remembered him.

Tina, what area of the US were you in when Silva was the CO or DO? Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, New York, etc? Surely some of the Buckeyes and Wolverines here remember him.

There was also a DO in Ohio in the mid 70s (I believe that this was after Silva was in the area) who was a pretty decent guy. I was battling my fellow elders at the time (one against five) in a matter that called in the CO and the DO. This DO actually displayed some compassion for my situation, but for the life of me I can’t remember his name. He visited the circuits in their assembly hall in London, Ohio in the mid 70s. Does any Buckeye remember him?

    Regards,

    Sam Beli

    Maximus,

yeah i remember Overholt.I was only 4-6 yrs old during the years we had him as CO but if i remember correctly he was kind of tall, well built. We had him in the late 60's.Someone mentined to me something about him being into doing magic tricks? And also that one time he was invited to a club to hear some sisters husband perform and that he was frowned upon for going? Do you know anything about that?

And Carl Slicin Dyson would always walk around the assembly hall and KH while someone else was giving a talk and act like some type of police checking on people such as who was in the lobbies etc.

    Uncle Onion,

If you're still reading this thread, I just wanted to let you know, that the last I heard, Jeff Young (is it the same one who's married to Vera?) recently had a heart attack (from what I hear, he's back at meetings, and although he was advised to take things easier, he's still a regular pioneer). From what I remember of him, he's a genuine person. The only sad thing is that as intelligent as he so obviously is, he's wasted his life because of the WTS.

    Thirdson,

Alan Stokes served as CO (quite a few years ago) in my old congregation a few times, and he managed to intimidate the brothers every time he was due for a visit. I remember his deep, booming voice and the way he used his height and build to put fear into people. (Good singer though). He's one of the few that you could tell the whole congregation was glad to see the back of, once he moved on to his next assignment (I don't remember many being made up to MS or Elder after his visits). He gave a talk at the DC I was dragged to last year, but other than that, not sure what he's up to.

One of the nice ones I remember was a CO named Colin Seymour. I don't know what he's doing now.

Another one was Bro. Judd (I don't know his first name. He has a very bad leg condition, which seems to be deteriorating year on year. It was really sad to see him struggling on to the platform to give talks - although he handled them ok. Just before I stopped attending, he seemed to have lost the sense of humour that he used to have.

Can someone tell me about P(aul?) Gillies? I've heard a lot about him, but never met him. He's supposedly the big chief at the London Bethal.

    Hi Sam,
I'll ask my mom what Silva's first name is. I was a kid around the time mentioned. I probably remember him more because my uncle was/is his buddy. And evrytime Silva was near our area(Chicago) they'd always spend some time together.Altho I do remember a couple of talks he gave when visiting the Ravenswood Cong.
Do you remember Sal Infantino? Another CO buddy of Unc's. Unc always plans his vacations here in Chgo when Sal is going to be in town as well. They've been doing that for yrs.
(Think my unc power trips lol)
Unc is an elder now down in NC, but he goes waaaaaaaaay back with these guys. Unc's been in the 'trooth' for 50 yrs now I think.
    warm regards,Tina
I always thought Sal's name sounde like the WT mafia lol.

PS. AS a child there was an elder named Jess Graziani.......he left for another cong...I often wondered if he went into the circuit work? That guy terrified me. Wow! As Im writing this I think I did grow up with the WT mafia when I remember these names lol.T

Here is a Darrell Holman story. He was our District Overseer 10 years ago:

I had a student talk on the Circuit assembly. My family were old timers in the dubs, and I was raised a dub. We were well respected in the circuit, and my husband was a very prominent elder, and I was a regular pioneer, about 45 years old then. (just setting the scene) Good old Darrell was the acting TM guy, to give counsel. Grrr. He walked us through everything beforehand, and reminded me that I was working on illustrations, and I said I had one and had taken it from the Live Forever book, and told him which illustration it was. He said, "okay, that's a good illustration too." So, I gave the talk, which caused the householder to change her views on a Catholic teaching. (I can't remember the subject) In his counsel he said that I made it look so easy, and "it isn't that easy is it? You need to work on making your talks more realistic, Sister King." Then he ripped me apart, in front of everyone, for using an illustration from one of the books, instead of coming up with my own, acting like he was so shocked that I had done that. I had to sit there in front of 800 people taking it with a smile. I was so angry!!!!

Afterwards, when he talked to me privately, he smiled and said "I hope you aren't upset with me. I wouldn't have been so hard on you if I didn't think you could take it." I just walked away, and didn't say anything. I didn't trust myself to be civil to him. But he knew I was pissed!!!

My husband said he can probably think of a few more stories if he thinks about it for awhile. He did say he was just 'an awful man.'

    Kimberley,

I remember Colin Seymour. He was nice. He had a real knack for remembering almost everyone's name. He stayed at our house in around 1974. If I remember right, he raised a family before joining the circuit work. I think my SIL knew him and his family from a Northern congregation.

As for Paul Gillies. I think I met him once and even went out on FS as a teenager. He came as a visiting Bethel speaker. I forgot all about him until I heard his name when he was interviewed by the BBC along with Lee Elder. After reading the transcript of the interview I changed my view of Gillies, he was not a great defender of the WTS and the blood issue.

    Mulan,
we had a Holman as who subbed as DO here in NY for one or two circuit assemblies here at the BRooklyn Assembly Hall.I forgot his first name but he was also a jerk. From the platform at the circuit assembly he tried to lay down a rule that when brothers gave talks at the hall or assemblies that their shirts should be white, and not any other color. And of course some of the knucklehead elders and ms swallowed that crap.Maybe this was the same person you're talking about.

Yes, it IS him. When we got him, he had come from New York, and had served even the Bethel congregations, and around there. Maybe that made him think he was more Godlike.

**In Florida, we also had another Bro (can't think of his name - help me out, Joelbear!), whom my little brother & me SWORE was an animatronic robot, escaped from Disney World's "Hall Of Presidents"! He moved, and spoke, just like something not quite human...**

I remembered this guy's name: Samuel Wiger (or close to that)
