Here is a Darrell Holman story.
Here is another:
My brother, an elder at the time, had a talk at the circuit assembly; around here we called him Haircut Holman and he went to my brother 1 hour before the talk and told him his hair was too long; he wanted my brother to come in the back so he could trim it for him!!!
My brother declined. My brother is still a true believer, and it shocked even him.
I laid low during his visits; i did not like him at all
My favorites:
James Vigg, a real peach.
James Schuler, I am going way back with that one.
Oscar Shady
CHARLES VALORZ, who I would follow off a cliff.
Wayne Falkowski, mellow and lovingThe losers:]
Darrel Holman, a real rule maker
William Brandt, a short lived little runt who really hated people
JACK THOMAS, who singlehandedly helped a MS get rid of his wife, openly solicited contributions from brothers who had money in return for favors, removed three elders wrongly to save his hide even though it took 2 special committees from the society, which he unduly influenced; told the sisters (after a talk against wife beating) that it did NOT mean that if their husbands slapped them up, that they should run to the elders. I could go on for hours about how corrupt that guy was.pistoff

Prisca,
Conrad Mack was a compassionate CO too - I got the feeling from him he was really sincere and cared what happened to people in the congs. Heard that he died a few years ago.
Unfortunately, Conrad Mack was murdered in some third world country, I cant remember which one - tragic.
I have to disagree with you though - he was the only CO who stood out to me as controlling and harsh. I was only very young when he used to visit our circuit - about 12 - 13, but I remember that he would terrify everyone from the stage. I was in Melbourne at that time, and he cracked down big time on AFL support, he demanded that JW's not keep score when playing football, and condemned JW football games altogether, even going to watch them, he accused the congregation of hero worship. He also had a bizarre intense hatred for "Waynes World" the movie at that time, and showed everyone from the stage a blown up newspaper report of the movie. He informed the congregation that if any elders kids had been to see the movie the elders would be immediately stood down.
He struck me as someone who was there to "Clear out the cong" and he went on a rampage of public reproof. Everyone was terrified of him. Hopefully, when you saw him he had changed - it sounds like he had. My parents still have photos of him. It was still very upsetting to hear about his death.
Just about all the CO's I knew were great though. There was one, I cant remember his name who was hilarious, it was like watching a stand up comedian when he was on stage. I used to get annoyed when they visited though, everyone treated them like royalty.
I used to hate how everyone called them "CO's" instead of using their real name, like everyone else.

Big Tex
Frank Nicholson, CO in my congregation (White Rock) who threatened me with disfellowshipping if I told anyone about my abusive father.
He couldn't handle the truth.

My two favorite CO's were Brother Prouton from the mid- 80s, and brother Miner, a really sincere down to earth guy. Very kind man.
Brother Prouton was cool too, I don't even know if he is still around, he was old in the 80s! But a really funny old guy. He was
excellent with the Teens in the cong. That is all I can recall that I really liked.

I had a CO who used to bring a blanket to the KH. If the sisters in the front row had too short of a skirt (those were the days!) he would go up to them and cover their legs. I don't know his name but his reputation preceeded him.

Yeah, John Casino was the CO for us when we left, a little dogmatic and serious for me
Some good ones, brother Burgess, very nice man, gave my sister a "pet rock" when my mom made her cry at the hall.
Harley Breneman, humble man, boring talks.
Bro Suiter was a fill-in DO for us, really nice guy, but seemed different than the other DO's I had met
Don't remember the names of the others.
BTW Floyd Kite a former CO/DO lives in the area now and he is booked up for sunday talks for like two years last I knew. He always gave talks at out District and Circuit assemblies

My favorite CO was Br. Coos. He ranted against the elders for DFing me. But he too bowed his head for Jehovah's rules that were voiced by three elders, and so he stopped ranting.
But it was nice he was indignified.

Years ago, I was told of a story, sometime in the 80s that there was a circuit overseer that had a woman in each congregation that
he slept with on each visit. I heard this story from more than one person and always wondered if it was really true. It was often
brought up as an example of how "just" God's org. is, as this CO was apparently caught after some years and subsequently
DF'd. Has anyone out there ever heard this story?? If you have, do you know who it was?
Let me know.
Thanks! Vita

Vita,
An absolute true story! It was in the 60's I was in my early teen's. Somehow the name Davies rings a bell. This guy was a real ladies man. Suave and attentive to the sister's. From what I remember he had dozens of 'sisters' just waiting for his next visit.
Harem indeed.
