    Another bee sting remedy:

Make a paste of meat tenderizer and some water and put it on the bite for about 15 minutes. It will break down the proteins in the sting substance and help with swelling and itching. It's what my grandmother always used.

Another thing with bee stings. When removing the stinger, use a credit card or something similar and gently scrape across the sting to remove it. If you take the stinger out with a tweezers you may release more of the venom into the skin by squeezing it with the tweezers.

LMAO- I was going to ask if anyone had the recipe used to keep a live Christmas tree's needles on longer- I remember reading it many years ago in Mother Earth News or some publication like that and haven't been able to locate it since. Then I remembered that I'm posting this on a board of people who didn't have Christmas trees !! Duh-it must be the blonde thing.

My mom used to take powdered golden seal and mix a bit in with petroleum jelly (vaseline) and put that on cuts. They would heal faster. Her other "Bible" was Back to Eden which is an herb remedy book. I can't even begin to remember them all, just some of the herbs she used. She used to drink slippery elm tea for something. Who knows. I always thought she was a bit of a qwack in those days. Now I use some of them myself. In her case, though, she hated medical doctors and would not go until or unless it was a critical emergency.

Oh yea, mix a bit of baking soda in water, making a thick paste, dab it on a bee sting. It brings the stinger out. If you get sunburned put apple cider vinegar on it, it takes the sting/burn out and it doesn't peel as badly. Vitamin E on scars.

Gretchen, I wonder if that golden seal is kinda like powdered sulfur or has some of the same properties, since it's yellow. I used to do the apple cider vinegar on sunburns (when I used to expose myself to sunshine at every opportunity ;P) but have found the aloe vera gel works much better now....but thanks for the bee sting remedy.

Frannie: I know the symptoms...I had a couple while in High School but nothing since then at all ZIP ZERO...bizarre huh and of course I go to the GYN at least once a year I try for every six months (Why do I go every six months) I knew a couple of people that went once a year during that time between their visit they (tested negative for cervical cancer) by the time their visit came again it was advanced and they died

Sheila, that's almost miraculous in this day and age....neither of yall must have it then....that's scarey and a good "heads up" on the 6 mo. cervical cancer checkup. I think that's what Gilda Radner died from, didn't she?

    Regarding that yeast infection thingy,

I had to go and ask my wife about the nitty gritties.

She said: You take a needle and poke a string through it and then pull it out the next morning.

Geez. Frannie, you better send me a message and tell me the less odiferous method, I am getting out of my comfort zone with this subject.

Switching bodily orifaces, I have had an itchy ear canal occasionally and I thought it may be a yeast infection and I tried the garlic and it worked.

Here's another remedy for one of the other orifaces.

When I went to my foreign assignment as a missionary, we spent five weeks on a slow freighter. Too many good meals and only exercise was walk the length of the ship once or twice a day led to un-budgable constipation. I went to the first mate to see if he had any laxatives in his medical chest. Nope.

Then I remembered what an old pioneer, who had chronic constipation all his life told me, years before. (He said his constipation affected his brain activities). He told me, carve a piece of ordinary hand soap, so it had no sharp edges and push it up the eerie canal, that is where the sun don't shine except at a nudist colony.

You don't have to wait over night for this one, the results are pretty immediate, don't wander too far away, though, you may be seen running around with baggy pants. belbab

    Earache.

A couple of drops of brandy in the ear.

The first time I tried this was after two courses of anti-biotics had failed. The next morning the earache was gone.

Put aloe vera (the plant straight from the ground) on everything. Cut it in half and use the pulp/liquid/cream juice whatever its called. Cures burns, and pain from burns, cuts scratches, anything skin related rashes, sores, bug bites, even use it on your face for moisturizer and around your eyes for crows feet, on your hair for conditioner. My mom was bit by the brown recluse spider, her skin was being eaten away, she started using the aloe vera and completely cured herself from the spider rash/bite.

My son gets frequent stomach aches, I make him chamomille tea, warm milk up separatley from the tea (something chemical happens when you warm the milk up) and mix the tea, warmed milk with sugar, he has the drink along with a hot water bottle on his tummy,( I have him lay on his tummy) and his tummy ache goes away, just like that.

There is a plant called a NOPAL in spanish, it is the fruit off the prickly pear cactus, grows wild here in the desert. It is a cure for diabetes. My grandfather cured his diabetes by taking it, and so did my father. Its easy, stick it in a blender, mix it with water, and drink, thats all there is to it.

HA, Black Sheep! What proof brandy, eh? Maybe it's stronger than the antibiotics... :)

Netty, that recluse spider bite remedy and the diabetes cure are astounding! You should start a Nopal business! How old is your son?

Son is six years old, just about 7. As soon as he drinks his drink, he starts burping, and tooting, and giggling, and hes all better from there.

My dads father was a "yaqui" indian (you would never be able to tell by my picture, except for the black hair), we used to refer to him for fun, as the medicine man. He had alot of cures for things, I wish we would have written down. My dad is somewhat like him, in the early 80's, before all the naturepaths and homeopathic remedies were so popular, my dad used to make his own herbal pills. bought the herbs, crushed them, put them in geltain pills. I remember him giving me a spoonful of fenucreek (sp) seed, you had to eat the seed, then swallow it down with water. Think this one was for allergies, but cant remember for sure.
