Son is six years old, just about 7. As soon as he drinks his drink, he starts burping, and tooting, and giggling, and hes all better from there.

My dads father was a "yaqui" indian (you would never be able to tell by my picture, except for the black hair), we used to refer to him for fun, as the medicine man. He had alot of cures for things, I wish we would have written down. My dad is somewhat like him, in the early 80's, before all the naturepaths and homeopathic remedies were so popular, my dad used to make his own herbal pills. bought the herbs, crushed them, put them in geltain pills. I remember him giving me a spoonful of fenucreek (sp) seed, you had to eat the seed, then swallow it down with water. Think this one was for allergies, but cant remember for sure.

Ahhhh, Netty...that's what it sounded like...gas....he sounds like a cutie.

I was wondering because I came across a remedy given us by a blind chiropractor in Dallas back in the early 70's....it CURES stomach virus....I don't use it the same way he gave it to us, cause it doesn't taste as good to stir a teaspoon of cinnamon up in a glass of water and gulp it down while it's still swirling....I prefer to put a coupla tsps of ground cinnamon in my coffeemaker basket and run a pot of water thru it....we can sugar it, drink it warm or ice it down, whichever we prefer....and any that's left over can be made into icecubes and bagged in the freezer for future needs....anyway....the cinnamon coats the whole digestive tract and KILLS the stomach virus....we drink it even if we've been around someone who might have a virus and my fam hasn't had a virus since the early 70's. :)

Oh yea, did anyone say warmed up (not hot) hydrogen peroxide for ear aches?

Nope...I don't believe anyone mentioned that one yet, Netty. I've used a cup of Clorox in my bath water (soaking head under) to kill the bacteria and an antihistamine to reduce the fluid in the ear....but that's a good tip...

One thing I know will almost completely cure a sprain overnight is to slather the sprained area with Vicks VapoRub (the original) and wrap it with an Ace bandage. Next morning pain and swelling is almost gone.

Gotta go to work now. See yall in the morning.

heres one for ya.....Put a penny on a bee sting.....brings the stinger right out....

Never heard of the penny, but tape a piece of bacon fat on a bee sting and the salt and nitrates will draw the stinger AND poison out.

Ok here's a new one I haven't tried (don't have the problem ) but my Dad and others have sworn that athletes foot and toenail fungus is cured by using vick's vapo rub on it. thought I'd pass it along as it sounds like something that could work.

Yeast infections: Douche 2x day for 7 days with yogurt with active bacteria. MD prescribed years ago when I was getting them ALL the time. Dannon yogurt has active cultures. Plain, not sweetened or flavored ;) 3-4 Tblsp mixed with a little warm water for liquidity and comfort.

After a bout of diarhea: Eat 1-2 tblsp live yogurt before each meal to help replentish the flora of the intestines.

Esophogitis at night: drink a glass of buttermilk, or 2-3 tablespoons of yogurt right before bed.

Urethritis, or Urinary Tract Infection: Drink 1 glass cranberry juice 2x or 3x day until infection is gone. Usually 3-5 days. Drink cranberry juice 2 or 3x per week to maintain if recurrant. The cranberry juice should have a high content of actual cranberry juice. To make your own, use 1/2 lb of fresh or frozen cranberries to 1 gallon water and 1/2 cup sugar. Boil and simmer for 20 min or so until cranberries pop. Mash and strain keeping juice. Refrigerate. A little more sugar can be added, but the juice should be tart.

Diarhea: Black berry leaf tea: Boil a pint or so of water and pour over a large handfull of blackberry leaves (watch out for the thorns on the back). Cover, and let sit for 20 minutes. Strain and drink. Drink after each bowl movement. I have had one glass work immediately. It doesn't cause griping nor constipation. Bananas also help. Avoid milk and spicy foods.

Bad Diarhea: 1-1/2 gallons of gatorade for 24 hours. No other food or water. Slowly reintroduce bland foods. (MD prescribed).

Hot Oil Treatment for hair: 1T olive oil warmed on microwave for 10sec. Don't burn yourself. Massage through scalp and comb to ends of long hair, wrap head in a towel for a 20-30 min or overnight, and wash out. It may take 2 washings. You can add the contents of a Vit E capsule for added nutrition for your hair.

These are all of the ones I use that I dont' have to leave home to purchase. Blackberry vines grow in the backyard and have leaves year-round.

    Hugs

Ur wcm, Netty....oh...btw...if someone already has begun throwing up before they start sipping the cinnamon "tea" and they throw up the "tea"? Just tell 'em to keep on sippin' it, cause it really will begin to work, it just takes a little longer once the virus has progressed to the point beyond nausea. It's been a life-saver for our family....although I will say we were initially turned off by regurgitating ground cinnamon and water at first before we learned to drink the "tea" at the first signs of nausea....the cinnamon "tea" flavored with sugar has helped overcome that aversion to the taste.

Wednesday, have yall ever tried the gall stone/gall bladder cleanse? It worked for me...here's the website telling the "recipe" http://www.relfe.com/gall_stone_cleanse.html

Never heard of the penny, but tape a piece of bacon fat on a bee sting and the salt and nitrates will draw the stinger AND poison out.

Brenda, I hadn't thought of using the bacon fat that way, but it makes sense, dudnit? My mom told me to use a small piece of bacon fat, covered by a bandaid on a really nasty zit I had one time when I was a teen and it drew it out overnight.

Ok here's a new one I haven't tried (don't have the problem ) but my Dad and others have sworn that athletes foot and toenail fungus is cured by using vick's vapo rub on it. thought I'd pass it along as it sounds like something that could work.

Now that's one I haven't heard of Cyber-sista....but something I've used to cure my elderly patients of ugly fungus-ridden toenails that are really thick and dry and cracked is Vitamin E oil......I just break open the little oil perles and squeeze out the thick Vita E oil and massage it into the toenails and around the cuticles and sides....doing this on a daily basis has made my patients' toenails begin to grow out straight and new without the ugly fungus thickening....it's amazing to see the new nail coming in right....behind the thick part that's growing off and can be trimmed away as the new toenail grows to full length.

Brenda, you're really lucky to have a backyard "pharmacy", eh? I used to go the "douche route" to curing yeast infections, but since I discovered Candida Digest (Planetary formulas brand) tablets will cure all yeast infections in your body, I just took those for a few months and am yeast-free without all the muss and fuss.....but I've heard of the yogurt idea before and it's supposed to work.

Unless it's an E-coli bacterial infection causing the diarrhea, I use Acidophilus capsules (1 or 2) everytime uncontrollable diarrhea hits...it stops it pronto....ya just hafta be careful not to take too much cause it can constipate, too. :) But those remedies you've described really do work.

I found that esophagitis is usually indicative of a hiatal hernia-gall bladder-esophageal disorder called Gerd's Disease.....and I found the remedy that works in an Herbally Yours book by Penny C. Royal.....3/4 cup Miller's bran sprinkled in food on a daily basis will stop the symptoms usually....and a gallbladder cleanse (hyperlink in post above) will rid your body of gall stones.....but that buttermilk or yogurt idea is a really good "quick fix"....thanks.

Thanks for the details on those remedies, Brenda....you must have a LOT of good ones.

The gall bladder cleanse would work for the liver too. There are products for a full body cleanse. If you are interested, I actually market some of them, so you can PM me.

Mayonnaise is a great treatment for dry, lifeless hair. Just smear it all over, wrap with a plastic bag or plastic wrap for about an hour and wash out. Has to be real mayo though, not non fat or low fat kind.
