Gosh I've used so many of these remedies, I was raised on the old fashioned thinking of who needs a doctor unless you have a broken bone, are dying or bleeding profusely.

Speaking of bleeding/cuts ect... for minor cuts which could use a stitch or two you can close it by using the membrane from an egg shell. You do have to dip it in alcohol because of salmonella (sp,whatever!). Leave it on until it falls off by itself. You may have to reapply it during the healing process but it works great and leaves almost no scar.

I also use aloe plants for everything except I am allergic to the aloe juice you can buy. I swear by vinegar internally and externally. White vinegar is a great disinfectant and gets rid of hard water spots safely.

Anyway I've learned a few things in this thread like the garlic tampon........TMI! But then we all know garlic is a natural antibiotic right, so it makes sense to me! LOL Besides Mama mia thats Italian!

Great stuff and I loved reading it!

ok, i could eat the green apples for three days, but i'm sorry, i can't even begin to think about drinking olive oil , no matter what it is mixed with. Not that i wouldn't ry,but i would vomit it up, imediately.

when i was pg with my first baby, i was over 3 weeks overdue. my mom suggeted the old castor oil rememdy. i mixed it with jello pudding, i can't remember which one-that is how horrible it was,i have blocked it out. to this day, i can't eat pudidng.

LOL, Weds! I know what you mean....the very first time I was preggers and experienced morning sickness, I didn't realize that's what it was and chug-a-lugged an alka seltzer....to this day, I've NEVER felt the "need" to use alka-seltzer again...heheheh Thank goodness that by my last pregnancy I discovered that "morning sickness" is merely a symptom of a drastic Vitamin B6 deficiency and took 400 mg a day to remedy it....consequently, I had NO morning sickness my last pregnancy.

But....the olive oil and lemon juice isn't as bad as it sounds....I couldn't do it either if it had to be gulped down all at once....but you just take a few tablespoons at a time every 10 to 15 minutes....and use the lemon juice "chaser" each time...

Thanks, Kate! I was raised the same way and found it expedient as a single parent raising kids....a lot easier on the pocket book than going to a doctor, too, eh?

That egg shell membrane trick sounds terrific....very good to know. Thanks!

BTW, Kate....have you checked out the ingredients on the aloe vera JUICE bottle (which shows it has additives)....as opposed to the 100% aloe vera GEL (which is the insides of the aloe vera leaves and mostly pure)....it may fix your problem with your allergy to the "juice" by switching to the gel.

You're right, too, Kate...this is terrific info....so many remedies!

I did that with my first baby and it worked. My mother had me swallow it and then quickly bite into a peanut butter sandwich. That really helped a lot. Baby was born about 12 hours later, 2 weeks overdue.

You can also use Apple Juice (for the gall bladder cleanse). Olive oil is horrid to drink. I was so sick, nauseated, chills and felt like I could die. I only did it twice. The thought of doing it 6 or 7 more times was enough for me to quit. It still worked. The gall bladder is closely part of the liver, so the liver would get a workout from the same thing. I wouldn't do it though. There are products on the market that are just capsules with herbs that cleanse the liver more gently without side effects.

WOW, Mulan! Every overdue preggers Mama would LOVE to have that info, eh? I also discovered that a handful of calcium w/magnesium tablets taken when going into labor will GREATLY reduce the pain from the contractions....but I wish I'd known it a LOT sooner.

I'd be interested in knowing which herbs or mixtures in capsules are good for cleansing the gallbladder/liver and ridding oneself of the stones, if there are any, Mulan. If there are, can you share that info?

My ND had me blend the olive oil with the lemon juice in a blender. It doesnt taste too bad that way.

Kaethra: My GYN's have said many times they are exacerbated by the "un-cleaniness" of your partner. I would think this would be more important for someone with various partners but ......

We did have a sister in our congregation that had rampant yeast infections, she was married to her first cousin her Doctor said that they were totally incompatible and that it was his sperm causing the severe reactions she had....WHY they wouldn't have used condoms after that I have no idea.

Thunder and I do use Ginger made into a tea

I love Aloe Vera and the SeaSilver I take is Aloe based and I have had no depression, allergies etc since starting it in December.
