I have no idea, but I would imagine that there had to be more to the story. Or maybe the other elders wanted a chance with her, she was attractive.

I doubt the elder was DFd for porn alone. There's probably more to the story. Maybe the discovery of porn led to the wife's investigation of her husband and found out even more sordidness. Or maybe if she reported the porn to the elders and they investigated they found more dirt and had to take action. If the elders "encouraged" her to divorce him there would have to be adultery involved.
In any case, he was very hypocritical and probably got what he deserved. To sit in judgement of others and to hold a seat of power all the while practicing what you condemn others for is unforgivable in my book.

As soon as an organization claims that they are the only way to the truth, they set themselves up to a higher standard. Are all elders porn freaks? No. Was this elder a porn freak? Likely.
How did such a man reach such a position of power in an organization that claims to be led by Holy Spirit?
..or is the organization led by ordinary men and cannot claim any special priveledge?

but to be fair it doesn't claim to be perfect. That's the bind it finds itself in, how to stand as "imperfect men' but at the same time be "God's earthly organisation".
