If the elders "encouraged" her to divorce him there would have to be adultery involved.
You'll not find this in any publication but a few years ago a CO made a veiled attempt to tell us that cybering with someone would be considered sex. The he leaves us with the question "So then would a mate be free to remarry in this case?" Well it turns out that he didnt have the answer either, he was just insinuating something hoping for us to think of cybersex in a certain light.
Encouraging a mate to divorce of not to divorce is a big no no. In my congo doing so has been among the "high crimes and misdemeanors" to have an elder removed. The frock book says to that though the elders should be informed of the descsion, they should stay out of the descsion.
AFIN: Catholic priests are defrocked; what more do you want?
gnat ... I have no interest in Catholic priests ... they are not part of this thread ... what's your point?
they are not part of this thread
Really/ Let others be the judge of that.
ossiepost ... have you been sipping some aged grape juice today? Seems you can't stay focused. You will not address my original question. Now you want to link Catholic priests to elders. There is an ocean of difference and you know it.

Most likely, but he is one of the moderators on this board and if he felt compelled he would have had a good reason. Now is that what you mean? Not a very open manner there ... direct .. yes ... covering up .. maybe ... No, no cover up. This board tries to be open about the fact that personal attacks and insults are not allowed. There is leeway, but that is up to the discretion of the moderators/admin. Think what you like, but suspecting cover up where there is none leads nowhere. |
it turns out Mr. R had a huge porn fetish and the wifey caught him several times on line watching porn, she told him to stop, he would say ok, then do it again, so she took the computer to the elders and showed them what he was up to. So the other elders df'd the upstanding pious Mr. R and encouraged the Mrs. to divorce him, and so she did.
Key words here describe how this man could have been disfellowshipped......but divorce?????
As was mentioned, the only grounds for divorce in Watchtower world is unfaithfullness. How Elders could encourage the wife to do this is beyond me. I wonder how the elders will handle it when this woman decides to marry again? If they perform her new marriage in a Kingdom Hall, they will violate their own set standards.
