    Sunspot,

what stands out the most is the arrogant attitude concerning elders (COs and DOs for "appointing" them) in the first place. The WTS claims that they are chosen by holy spirit

Ok, now you got me going, my dad is an MS has been for over 20 years, he was not born in the "truth" my dad is a very beloved person in the cong and is always there to help anyone in need. The funny thing is that despite the fact he practices what he preaches he has never been an elder, he was up for appointment once when I was a kid, but my mom didn't pioneer and the elders knew I was not buying the JW thing so he was passed up. He is ok with it, because he loves Jah and the org, and that's enough for him. But now as an adult I feel pissed that many become elders that don't really deserve to be, but my dad that will preach to a rock, plays by all the rules and would gladly die for his beliefs, has not been made an elder. Not that I want him to be one, it's just a respect thing. So much being chosen by the spirit! Dragonlady76

    Dragonlady and Sunspot -

That wholething reminds me of the elder who kept asking me - during my doubt phase - "Do you believe that elders are appointed and directed by Holy Spirit?" Little did I know he was trying to trap me -as that is one of the standard questions used to confirm apostasy [or something similar].

I guess I confounded him though when I always answered "to the extent that they act in accordance with the Bible, inspired by that same Holy Spirit, to that extent they are allowing it to direct them."

Didn't know it at the time - but that answer was just enough over the JW side of the fence to keep him from charging me with apostasy.

    WHEW!!!! CLOSE CALL!!!!

What's the matter AK Jeff? Got a fur ball you can't swallow? Dostprefer became an instant TROLL: ... How dare he have an opinion? You drag that name out whenever someone says something you don't agree with ... get real ...

Actually - a friend in need I have read several of this guys posts - he is always sarcastic, and witness apologetic, and with no honest defense for his opinions, makes a post, then runs and hides, but maybe not a troll - why do you object to my having an opinion, but not he? I was just defending DL or others who wish to post stories that depict the real issues of JWdom. I didn't attack you. Jeff

    Hello 2 all,

Stories like these just confirm how bad the foundations are for this organization....The funny part of the story is that it makes the hardcore faith get stronger....Whenever I tell my mother stories like these she says in relief: "yes the end is just around the corner"....We JW's (i am an under-cover apostate) have an unbelievable talent of interpreting any event, the way we want, in order to feel good....Whenever something good happens we hear announcements type: "Only people of this group act like this..."...Whenever something bad happens either we try to burry it as deep as possible or if the s...t hits the fan we hear comments type: "This world is getting so corrupt that its acts are getting into our flock...Aren't we living in days like Noah's?".....Coming back to the story,I think the elder had so much stress, just by being an elder, so this porn thing was just a way to chill and relax....I am not going to say if watching porn is right or wrong becuse nobody gave me the authority to judge someone, but isn't it insane that a whole family got f***d up just because daddy was getting horny? When a group manages to get into a couples bedroom we are talking about mid-evil tactics period!

Mucky-Muck had been mis-handling some ORG funds in a LARGE and most un-Christian way

This reminds me of one of my last official functions in the congregation.

I had already stepped down as a Ministerial Servant, but was still active. After service one Saturday during the CO's visit, the cong secretary asked me if I could audit the accounts. (I was formerly the accounts servant, and as a certified accountant, I am probably one of the few competent ones they have had.)

Anyway, the reason for the request was that the CO wanted things professionally checked, pronto, because there had recently been three major frauds in Canada at the congregation and assembly hall levels - one of them into the 10s of thousands of dollars. I found that quite amusing - the old spiritual paradise was getting ripped off.

I didn't find anything. The accounts were messy and out of balance, but nothing was missing.

Homunculus ... You say the whole family got screwd up because Daddy got horny.

And a group mamages to get into the couples bedroom ..... maybe if Daddy was IN the bedroom instead of watching porn .... the whole family would not be screwed up today!

    Afin,

Now that you've gotten that little witticism off your chest: how about addressing the real issue here?

    1) Why does the WTS insist on claiming that elders are appointed under holy spirit, when it's been proven that they have been guilty of so-called unchristian behaviors?

    2) Can YOU prove that they are appointed by holy spirit?

It would make you somewhat credible if you answered the questions asked of you on here, rather than popping in to offer opinions and sarcasm.

    Afin,

You didn't get my point...I agree with you that the CO is in fault....but what I wanted to show is that a religious group has absolutely no right of making decisions that have to do strictly with family matters....This is a matter of the husband and wife....now if they can't find a solution wouldn't it be better to get some proffesional help instead of letting a janitor cleaner help them make the decisions?(i am not saying all elders are janitor cleaners but mathematically speaking most of them have no social skills)....

well what a story!! it reminds me what happens last months in my congregation... one elder died and his wife had relations (i mean, sexual ones) with an other elder just after that. and the same time, my best friend had to meet the elders (so, including this one) because they had found she was too close of a brother of the congregation. so, this is a mr hypocrite too ;-)) do what i say, not what i do!! this elder has been Df'd a month ago...
