What a courageous person you are! Like LT said I also envy you and feel thick. I left when I was 16 as well, but I made friends very quickly - not all of them good ones, but certainly a lot better than any friends I ever had who were JWs. When I left I still believed it was the truth and did for the next 13 years or so, which is why I say I envy you.
My parents pretty much kicked me out - so I told everyone giving a thoroughly bad witness to ooh about 75% of our town! I left that town a good 11 years ago and apparently householders still mention me to witnesses who knock on their doors as in you people disown your children for being human - cue door slam in their face. Maybe you can take the opportunity to give a bad witness in your area! Although to be fair I did feel sorry for my parents, but hey it was them that chose this cult and to put it above me!
You can make it on your own, but on the downside having had to support myself with no skills from the age of 16 and also being rather naive was not easy and of course I never got to take further education and go to college. I left school with A's and B's and spent the next two years working on a check out in a supermarket! If there is anyway you can still go to school - you absolutely must. Thats an order!
Any advice you need - please ask! And good luck!

Don't leave tomorrow.
When I was your age I put my suitcase out of the window, had breakfast, said goodbye, picked up my suitcase and disappeared.
I still did not know that JW was a false religion. You do.
If I had been in your position I would have stayed 'in' asking all of the questions that JWs cannot answer, refusing to accept,"because it's the Truth"/"these people are Bible scholars" as answers and insisting on honest evidence.
Tell them that you will not be bullied into believing what they say.
If they insist on bullying......
.....put your suitcase out of the window......

Welcome OklaX!!!
But don't thank us for your exercise of good judgment. We can only lead you to reason, we can't make you drink. Give yourself a pat on the back that you overcame so many prejudices and decided to weigh other arguments fairly despite direct orders against doing so, from WTS.
Respectfully,
OldSoul

He has an excellent point, OklaX. Someone in your situation, if you can stomach it, has a very unique opportunity to wake a lot of people up with sincere questions. Make sure their answers are coming from the Bible (there are many answers that cannot).
If you are baptized you can reject the teachings before your 18th birthday, no harm no foul organizationally. You cannot enter into a legally binding contract before age of maturity. That gives you something over a year of liberty to question, an option that many of us wish we had taken better advantage of.
Respectfully,
OldSoul
Congratulations, you're a stronger person that I was at that age. Good Luck!
im sick of staying in it i dont think i could take going to the meetings anymore not after accepting that the society is a cult ill check into that legal link or whatever that u guys put up thanks for all the support
I too envy you. I didn't figure it out until I was 24. Best of Luck.
And I didn't figure it out until I was 35. maybe there IS something to this evolution thing. Maybe people ARE getting smarter
Sith, it is the human response to evolutionary pressures in the form of abundant readily accessible information. Cults always die in such an open environment.
