I am treated as evil by people who claim that they are being oppressed because
they are not allowed to force me to practice what they do.—D. Dale Gulledge

Your logic is like holding a WWII army soldier morally accountable for Hitler's suicide.

If apostates were not so vigilant in watching the Witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).

What an incredibly stupid argument! The policies of the Governing Body were wrong, and were killing people. So-called "apostates" fought against these insidious practices to save lives. Blaming them because the GB are stubborn or spiteful, or don't have the option to be deceptive this time is disgusting. Those who institute and uphold patently absurd beliefs and dangerous practices are the ones who have "blood on their hands" - not those who have fought to expose them and change their policies.

Seems to me that you're almost prepared to admit the GB are behaving like jerks over the blood issue, Slimboy.

Does Jehovah know that the policies of His earthly representative organisation are controlled by Satan? Tsk tsk, that will never do. Still, there's always the resurrection, right? It's all a big game, a big test of faith, right? Jam tomorrow, jam tomorrow, jam tomorrow....

ig. (yeah, I know, don't feed the trolls. sorry.)

Don't you think the Witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?

    Ya THINK?

SBF, Have you really sunk that low to find the wiggle-words to defend the WTS actions? This MUST sound as ludicrous to YOU as it does to US!

OTOH, it's a familiar tactic of "always blame the OTHER GUY" when the WTS---GB (whatever) say and do something foolish, unscriptual dangerous and downright stupid. They have absolutely NO integrity whatsoever!!!

They have painted themselves into any corners they find themselves sitting in, and no amount of stupid reasoning by the JWs can ever change that. As has been pointed out they don't need any help in sitting there looking the fools that they are!

Have you seen any of them lately? Maybe we don't see pictures of the so-called (contempt filled gag)"holy ones" BECAUSE THEIR NOSES HAVE GROWN JUST LIKE PINNOCHIO!

SBF, how's it feel to be grasping at the last straw?

Some of you persist in thinking that I am some kind of 'Watchtower Apologist'. I am nothing of the kind. I just wish that apostates would not try to emulate the Witnesses in their rabid extremism. Sometimes I really think apostates are their own worst enemy. If only they never went so over the top, probably we would have witnessed many of the reforms apostates would like to see naturally occur within the society. Outside pressure is only going to make them dig their heels in. When will you lot ever learn? Besides, if people really believe that taking blood is wrong, then they should be allowed to refuse it. If they want to believe in 1914 and all that, then that is up to them. I really am disturbed by the illiberal streak in apostates who seem to think that just because they don't believe it anymore, Witnesses have no right to maintain their idiosyncratic beliefs. It is the exact mirror of the fundamentalist Witnesses who is convinced the whole world is wrong and they are going to set them straight. Why can't we just say that Witnesses and ex-Witnesses have different views on the world and leave it at that. Since neither view can be demonstrated beyond doubt, it is bloody-mindedness to rant and rave the way some do.

The only one I see ranting and raving here is you, slimboyfat. If you are right about any of this, then why didn't they change these doctrines before the internet came along? They had about 70 years to do it, so why not? They don't want to change anything. I think we've all seen the pattern. Reform, my ass. All they do is ask people to ignore past teachings. You know what I'm talking about.

Someone mentioned that their new bible study book, What Does the Bible Really Teach, doesn't mention 1914. Don't you think newly interested ones should understand fully how the Watchtower can claim the authority over them that they do? Isn't 1914 supposed to be a part of all that?

Just the same old thing again. They aren't reforming anything. They ignore things that have been proven false against them, as if they were never there. That's what I see happening. If they try to change 1914 or blood or anything else, they will do it in the way they have always done it, irresponsibly. That is, they will take no responsibility for their mistakes and will carry on with their authoritarian attitude. And many people will see it's not right, and will leave, and many will stay on. That's how it's always been, that's how it always will be. The only thing that will be different because of apostates on the internet is fewer people will join because they have something to research. And a few unhappy JWs will eventually figure them out and leave. Otherwise, they will probably always have a core of particularly stubborn followers, and they will continue to deal harshly with them.

The new book does mention 1914. It has a chapter and an appendix on the subject.
