I loved the green bible with pictures on the inside cover. My sons used to spend some meetings making up stories about the little dinosaur going on a rampage kind of like Godzilla. LOL

what I was told, a long time ago, is that they were real. But, Noah couldn't fit them in the ark so they all perished. And as Katie pointed out, inthe old green bible, there was a picture of one just inside the front cover.

Maybe that dinosaur was doodled in by an aposto-artist for a joke just before the bible went to print, and it got left in by mistake.

Anyway I heard that an asteroid hit earth and all those green bibles were destroyed. Go on, I bet you cant find one now can you? Noooooo beacause we were all encouraged to buy little leather bound ones (in sophisticated black or fashionable burgundy) to distract us from the sinister truth that there are NO GREENS ONES LEFT!

One elder's wife in particular gave an elaborate story to my kids about how dinosaurs didn't ever really exist and that it was Jehovah who merely put the bones in the ground

Holy shit. Can you even imagine what some people in field service thought of us? We were ignorant cultist freaks!!

And all this time I though Jehover could not lie.

Jehovah put the bones in the ground, that's a really cultish idea.

About six years ago I listened to the Public Talk 'The Flood of Noah's Day has meaning for you!'

Going a bit astray from his outline, the speaker stated that while many evolutionists claim the dinosaurs died out millions of years ago we of course knew that - and I quote - "they died out in the flood".

I'm not kidding, I had to pinch my leg real hard to stop myself from belly-laughing! I approached him after the meeting and told him 'how much I'd enjoyed his talk [!] and which references did he use re the dinosaurs dying in the flood'? He said that he couldn't remember but that he knew he'd read it in the Society's literature somewhere.

Well I didn't want to argue with him and a queue was developing for the ritual 'public speaker back slapping' so I let him go.

But this bugged me. We all know the Society has never claimed that T Rex and his buddies were wiped out in the flood and yet this has developed into quite common currency among the JW masses.

A few weeks after the talk I was having a pint down the pub with my brother-in-law elder and related this whole experience to him. His response?

"But the dinosaurs DID die out in the flood"

    I give up.

    Nic'
