We have had a number of picket duty threads if you don't know what your doing stay home.

    rules of engagement:

    (1) picketing is recruitment interdiction is NOT for deconverting dubs it's for 95% of the worldly news media and passerby's

    (2) have a simple sign with large letters and a catchy slogan that motorist driving by can read

    (3) be non threatening savy & cool wear a walkman and sunglasses DO NOT speak unless engaged

    (4) Never picket alone have a buddy or a qued up camcorder or other event recording device

Have fun-Danny Haszard 20 years picket duty experience

but does anyone believe they do any good or would their time and resources be better used else where??

I believe it does NO good. All it does is REINFORCES in us that we have the truth. Would their time and resources be better used else where? Yes, by building THEMSELVES back up and returning to Jehovah God!

I have had lots of success speaking to the "worldly" passerby's while picketing. I dont picket with the hopes of pulling JW's away from the WT, but mainly do it as a public service to warn the unsuspecting public. I am not mean, nor do I scream when I picket. Jehovah's Witnesses mostly will ignore the picketing anyway, but the public is where my concern is directed.

("I dont picket with the hopes of pulling JW's away from the WT, but mainly do it as a public service to warn the unsuspecting public.") Junction guy, what you are not aware of is that, when you do this, it makes the "WORLDLY" people as you say, INTERESTED. They want to see what its all about and they start to ask us questions. That ALLOWS the seed of truth to be planted.

I picketed Brooklyn Bethel every year for about 5 years

Mouthy I was probably one of the ones who walked past you when you did this. I remember them around Sept/Oct. they would stand in between 107 and 124 holding signs, saying stuff with bullhorns. One thing that stood out to me was a little girl maybe 6 or 7 holding a sign saying "my grandma cant talk to me because my mommy is disfellowshipped" something like that. Then there were the signs with dates 1874, 1913, 1914, 1925, 1975. Was all pretty interesting stuff even back then as a hardcore JW. Now I wish I could join them out there.

As a kid, it scared me........the local ones acted strangely. I wonder how I would have perceived it as an adult.

I was just recalling.....my mother's uncle used to protest our conventions. He was not an "apostate", he was a Xian minister of the hardcore fundy variety. It was a bit uncomfortable, to say the least. No small wonder I've sworn off religion altogether.

Well I make sure to tell them that I was a JW and tell them my personal experiences, I also let them know things to ask JW's when they come to their door, I give them a heads up. Most people arent stupid and they will be able to see through the lies of the JW organization. My goal is that there will come a time when the average person will hear the words "Jehovahs Witness" and think of pedophiles, children dying, torn families, etc etc etc. Most people Defd, contrary to what your organization teaches you do not despise JW's, they have an apathetic attitude. That persecution complex is a bunch of crap.

Defd- There are people who picket Catholic Churches, does that make them have the truth also?

That's it! we appeal to the public HEY JW's intrude and trespass door to door much more annoying.

When i first started picketing Bangor Maine (pre 911) i was SHOCKED at how many motorist and pedestrians a-like cheered me waved, gave the thumbs up,honking their horns.

The general public are fed up and hate JW's and they rallied big time even the cops were smiling.I was front page news in the local paper.

Matthew 13:1-9 On that day Jesus, having left the house, was sitting by the sea; and great crowds gathered to him, so that he went aboard a boat and sat down, and all the crowd was standing on the beach. Then he told them many things by illustrations, saying: “Look! A sower went out to sow; and as he was sowing, some [seeds] fell alongside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell upon the rocky places where they did not have much soil, and at once they sprang up because of not having depth of soil. But when the sun rose they were scorched, and because of not having root they withered. Others, too, fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them. Still others fell upon the fine soil and they began to yield fruit, this one a hundredfold, that one sixty, the other thirty. Let him that has ears listen.”

I Corinthians 3:6-7 "I planted, A·pol´los watered, but God kept making [it] grow; so that neither is he that plants anything nor is he that waters, but God who makes [it] grow.
