Fading: A Little Craziness Helps
by metatron inas you may know, i am a zealous advocate of using depression as a means of fading out of the organization.. let me add that a hint of craziness or mental illness can work wonders, too.
instead of shunning you, your witness.
relatives and "friends" may make quite an allowance for you, if you just keep your mouth shut about deep apostasy.. they may just feel sorry for you and leave you alone- at least, that's largely my experience.. remember that movie that said "love means never having to say you're sorry"?

What more can they possibly take from her?
by ButtLight insome of you may remember my mom was diagnosed with a rare disease that shrinks the brain.
(corticobasildegeneration) how i remember that is beyond me!
anyway, since she was diagnosed, they started out by taking her licence away about 3 years ago.

I second what IP said
3 years ago I had the exact questions you just asked. For 35 years I was told by someone else how to view things. It is now your time to do your research and see where YOU feel comfortable.
The fear of being destroyed use to be great in my mind. I feel at peace with being the best person I can be and show kindness to others. I don't have the fear of what "could be". What will be will be. And as a parent, I wouldn't abuse or destroy my kids when they make mistakes...why would God?

elders and alcohol
by chuckyy inwhen i was an elder most of the rest of the body drank like fish, some would regularly get drunk and it was always ignored.
then these very same elders would reprove a young lad for excessive drinking!
was there similar hypocrisy in your cong????.

new member here
by pippy inhi, i just joined this site and thought i would say hi.
my brief history is being raised as a witness, disfellowshiped for being a normal 17 year old, spending 10 years feeling guilty and thinking im going to die and so will my husband and son.
mother and father in it and always run out crying because they think they failed as parents cause none of their kids stayed in it.

NOT REALLY SURPRISED!
by Dansk inwell, it had to happen one day - only claire and i thought we'd be somewhat older and karl would have finished his university course.
karl telephoned earlier this week to let us know we're to become grandparents!
as karl is only 21 and has just started university i felt like reading the riot act - but what's the point!

A reminder to all of you....
by LivingInReality inshannon here.... a confessed "lurker" for a very, very, long time and a rare poster to the board......i just wanted to drop a quick note to all of you.. please keep doing what you're doing..providing a refuge for so many.
you all make me feel reassured that if in 4 years from now i may have a breakdown (because deprogramming is a lifelong ailment) and need to find strength and encouragement, or even just someone to hear my story and believe me...i will always know that you are all here.
no judgment, no criticism...but instead providing a way for anyone who visits this board a little challenge at times, a large amount of humor, some psychological services...and a great big dose of the real truth.. you guys are great...you make me laugh, you make me smile and you make me feel fantastic about my decision to leave by your constant reassurance that truly living is all about thinking for yourself.. i'll be sure to start posting more regularly because i'd like to start to get to know you guys better and in turn become a source of comfort, wisdom and humor to others that have gone through what we have.. hugs to you all.. shannon.

Welcome Shannon
This board has been a great spiritual healing place...
I am still a "fader" so I can't post a lot of personal info about me...
