A few years ago a circuit overseer sent an email to the coordinators in his circuit asking all of them to email him the names of any Jehovah's Witnesses in good standing that were lawyers. The email explicitely said do not tell them that we are collecting their names. I have no idea what the reason for this was for or if it was from the branch or just this one circuit overseer.

Bad month for the Borg this October!
by Crazyguy inthe month started of quietly then all of a sudden news his the uk about a former jw elder who molested and raped woman and girls.
then just after as the dust started to settle news out of dallas texas where a complaint was filed alleging elders and a circuit overseer molested and abused six or more victim's.
before this news even had a chance to resinate threw the ears of those hearing it another complaint was filed in the state of connecticut of four more alleged victims.

They just passed a resolution not too long ago for funds in cases of emergencies and they used accidents or damage to Kingdom Halls as examples. The letter specifically stated that the funds had no restriction on how they were to be used. I would imagine if the wtbs ever has to start paying for these settlements, that's where it will come from.

This is being called a zone visit. No one knows exactly what to expect other than talks just like the annual meeting. I have heard people say it will be other speakers than just the governing body. Either way its going to be boring, uneventful, a waste of my time, and likely to get every JW around me invigorated for being a part of this awesome organization.

Jehovah's Witnesses are the only people who don't practice war and who preach worldwide!
by EndofMysteries inthis is what somebody has been telling me, trying to convince me aside from anything one can say or cause reason for doubt, as the evidence that they are the true religion and true people of god.
they are convinced because while 'all other' christian and other religions support war, troops, etc, jw's don't and they are the only one's who carry god's name and preach.
nothing else matters.

I would acknowledge that war is not pleasant. But war is all over the bible and used by Jehovah in the Old Testament extensively. I would ask this individual what would happen if the entire earth took the stance on war as JWs have and then adolph hitler came along? Where would we all be without war after he got through with his agenda?

The REAL purpose of the new 1914 explanation video...

The video didn't really tell you how to "explain" 1914 in detail. To do it as the video shows you have to do many things.
1. You automatically accept that 607 is the date of the fall of Jerusalem.
2. There was no explanation about why it was a literal 7 years for Nebuchadnezzar but it is 2520 years in our day. They try to say Jesus in Luke indicates that it is longer but Jesus is talking about the coming destruction of Jersusalem that occured in 70 ce.
3. No explanation on why you count 7 years in 360 day increments.
4. No explanation about a day for a year and why it applies.
5. No explanation why you can cherry pick scriptures from all sorts of different books and somehow they all are a part of the same prophecy.
6. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this a type/antitype that they are doing away with?

Michael Keaton was my pick until the recent batman trilogy. Christian bale has done the best job at it but also the movies were good which I believe helps.

When did you start getting ANGRY?
by Separation of Powers inwhen i started the fade....i recognize that i was upset, mainly because of the desillusionment.
but, over the course of the past several months, i am noticing an increasing anger toward all thing org.
it can only be described as indignation, not simply upset.

It happened in various stages. I learned everything in the late 90s and was just a teenager. I would argue and argue with my mom. Eventually I almost ended up in a judicial comittee. Fast forward this many years the only anger I get is how obvious it is that its just a farse but my family gets more convinced it's the truth with each change. I know there is nothing I can say or do which I have come to accept for many years. My parents will grow old and die always convinced the end is so close.
