As I very sparingly paid attention while perusing the internet on my ipad, I remember thinking how is it a "legal" contract? Wouldn't Jehovah be the one who would enforce any type of legal contract, that he apparently made...with himself...with no legal system in place to enforce a legal contract?

My condolences as I have lost two dogs in my lifetime. I am a dog lover and have found getting another dog helps fill the void. The best animals there are in my opinion.

Mommy says no Christmas
by Anony Mous indaughter is 3 now, that's a little less than i've been on this forum.
you can find my life story in earlier posts.
enough to say that i have a generous amount of visitation with her.. i picked her up and was talking about the lights some of her neighbors had.

Simple, when she wakes up for Christmas she will very quickly forget that mommy says no Christmas when she sees the presents.

Why is it wrong for Christians to celebrate Christmas?
by james_woods inthis was inspired by terry's thread.... it is something that raises many questions about the jw belief system.. .
for one thing - the bible certainly explains all the details of the christ birth.
it certainly does not tell people to avoid celebrating it with feasts, customs, etc.

JWs prided themselves on being separate from the world. This is a pretty significan't way to demonstrate that. I think that idea is more important to them than any pagan practices they can attribute to the holiday.

Wasn't a letter about the NGO situation read at the Hall?
by Apognophos inokay, so i've been seeing the occasional comment here and there on the forum that some jws, even elders, do not seem to have heard about the society ever being an ngo.
am i not remembering accurately?
back when this scandal happened (2001?

What Made You Finally Wake Up?
by Tenacious inhello to all.
i've been on this site for a couple of weeks now posting here and there but have not had the opportunity to read about many of the regular members and what led up to their leaving the wt.. i understand that some of you (i'm part of this club) may not be able to disclose many details and i can appreciate that.. i'd love to hear what was it that finally made you renounce what is and hopefully soon to be "was" the wt.. i truly look forward to having good discussions.. thank you to all for your kind participation.. .

The generations teaching in 1995 was the first time I recall questioning anything, I was only 11 or 12 at the time. Then america online became popular and I would hang out in JW chat rooms where apostates abounded. I never talked to them but always would read what they had to say. Sometimes it made sense and other times apostates fed the idea that the watchtower portrayed them to be, crazy, angry, twisting anything they could. It really did not help what they were trying to do by how some would act.
Anyway fast forward the FIRST apostate website I ever read was freeminds.org sometime in the 90s. My heart was beating very fast as I was on the site. Again I read more stuff that made sense. I believe that's where I first heard of ray franz and his book. I went to the library and read it there for awhile out of fear of someone would find my book at home. Eventually I checked it out and locked it in my meeting bag since it had a combination on it.
After reading the book and I saw Ray had predicted that the generations teaching would need to be changed when he wrote his book in the early 80s and it took God's channel of communication over a decade to do it, that was a big moment of the light bulb going off for me. His book also pointed out about 607. I began researching that and figured out how it was all wrong. That was it for me.

Perhaps Eve was really a Neanderthal!
by skeeter1 inheard this researcher on dr. radio, and wanted to share the story.
science keeps blowing away the pre-biblical notion of adam and eve.. skeeter.
the dna from the 45,000-year-old bone of a man from siberia is helping to pinpoint when modern humans and neanderthals first interbred, researchers say.. although modern humans are the only surviving human lineage, others once lived on earth.

You know when I was younger and believed in adam and eve, I tried to picture just what a "perfect" woman must have looked like. I had quite a few crushes on some super models that I already considered perfect, but eve must have looked even better than them.....Now...you've ruined it!

I don't want to appear rude as I am really trying to look out for your best interest. What part of you're wasting your time are you not getting? This is only going to end up badly for you.

SMART all they're going to ask you is if you believe this is God's organization and the governing body are his sole channel of communication. You are wasting your time. Read the hundreds of stories on here of people doing similar things. I don't recall one single instance that the elders agreed and left themselves. You will end up df'd like almost everyone else.
