  My Mama

  my brother is probably just now arriving in fl to be with our mother.

  he is her youngest child and only son.

  she has been a very firm and faithful jw since 1958, and is scheduled for open heart surgery this week and she requested that he fly down to be with her.

  Karen:

  I am sorry that you and your family are having so much pain. Under "normal" circumstances when our parents grow old and require medical care it can be a very stressful time for everyone. But, put that together with all the JW emotional abuse, and it just compounds things. I hope that your Mom gets through this, and that she also sees what a kind and loving family she has surrounding her.....this is a blessing that not all elderly people have.

  My thoughts are with you, Karen...take care.

  We've been robbed

  dave and i went grocery shopping today, and after we came home, he noticed the propane tank cover for our rv was on the neighbor's front lawn.

  on closer inspection, he discovered someone stole one of the propane tanks..............the full one, of course.

  the trailer is only a year old.

  That's a shame, Mulan. It doesn't matter how big or how small the item taken is, you feel violated just the same.

  My dad had his boat on a trailer in our driveway years ago. He woke up one morning to find that some jerk stole the motor right off the back of the boat...after that my father didn't have the heart to go out and purchase another motor to have that one stolen too....so he just sold the boat. We had lots of memories tied up with that boat, so we all felt sad to see it go.

  Some people just suck.

  Your Favorite Football Team?

  superbowl is around the corner and just wondering how many of you are football fans and who your favorite team is?.

  me, i don't watch football as much as i used to.

  i'm from huntington, wv and the football team there is marshall university "the thundering herd".

  Just lost our parents....

  well, the shunning begins.

  we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.

  of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.

  Brandon, Stephanie, and family,

  I am so sorry. I wish that I could do something, or say something that could help you guys. Your pain is felt by everyone here. This same sad senerio is played out over and over again by the hardliners in the JW organization bringing pain that will never heal to countless families. There are families, like ours, that do not shun family members, even if they leave the organization. I know plenty of families from previous congregations that did not shun their children or parents just because the org. told them to do so. Bring this up with your parents, maybe if they know that shunning isn't strictly followed by all JW's, they might change their hardheaded stance with you.

  My thoughts are with you during this hard time.....This is why my husband and I left the org...they wanted us to shun our child, instead we left. It was the best thing we ever did.

  we get new posters every week and at times we lose some posters.

  when most "newbies" find this site, they are thrilled to be able to express themselves in a way that they could never in a kingdom hall.

  It's snowing here.................1st time in 2 years

  i woke up to snow this morning.

  we have had another major rain storm, with flooding and all the "benefits" of that, yesterday and all night.

  when i got up a little while ago, i saw the ground covered with snow, and it is still coming down.

  Mulan,

  So sorry you have the flu. They say that this season is going to be worse than it has been for years. And that the strain of flu is not the strain they prepared the flu shot for, but that the shot should still help in protecting from this strain. Whatever. Even if the shot was worthless against this strain, do you really think they would tell the public who have already had the shot or expect to get it soon? Don't think so. I work in a doctor's office and should get the shot, but probably won't. I will live dangerously, I think.

  So sorry to hear about your Mom, Mulan. Hope she improves day by day. It is very sad to watch our parents grow old and lose their grip on taking care of themselves. Hang in there, and I wish the best for your Mom.

  Strength and Stamina

  i have been working out three times a week at a women's fitness center, after i leave work for the day.

  i had to learn all about the machines and the most efective methods to get results.

  (i couldn't afford to have a personal trainer, so i became my own trainer, and i don't let myself get away with too much.

  Wow...I give you alot of credit.

  When I get home from work at night, I have no energy left. I eat and crash on the couch. I know that this is not good, and maybe when my new job gets a little less stressful (I won't hold my breath), I will try to put more effort to be more like you. You are my new hero. Keep up the good work, seems like it is paying off for you.

  Losing our dog Kate....she was unique.

  to me today was the saddest day for a long while.

  kate my sisters dog developed a strange cough a week ago and so we too her to the vets and he gave her a steroid and antibiotic injection and kept her in for 4 days, she was diaganosed with "collapsed trachea syndrome" she was a yorkshire terrier and apparently this is common in small dogs like this.. my dad is a carpet fitter, and just over 2 years ago he was doing a job in a house close by and the woman that owned kate at the time kicked her as she walked past her and cussed at her as she cowered, dad was appalled and said he'd take her, which he did, and jane (my sister) took her in and spoiled her rotten.

  this little bundle of nerves really developed into a fantastic little dog, she looked like a little rat to be honest!

  So sorry Scooby.

  Kate sounded like a great friend. Our pets become part of our families, creating memories that last a lifetime, and the void from their passing can be very painful. You have my sincere condolences.

  I got the job

  thanks so much to everyone for their support over the past weeks.. .

  tim interviewed me every night this past week in order to get me ready.

  it was grueling and i was in tears (not due to any pressure from him, but because of my own inadequacies); i've relied in the past on my personal warmth and integrity to get jobs but really needed to learn how to answer difficult questions.
