I agree with you logansrun.
Even after 12 years of being df'd, I was afraid to look at the "apostate" websites. Even the mild ones gave me the willies. I think you get more people questioning their faith will mild tacticts over a period of time.
the anguish and the agony of having to renounce the lifelong convictions of one's heart.the surreal horror to know that it was all a lie!
for the 33 years that i was a j-ho,the central theme of discussion among active jehovah's witnesses was their inescapable mortality.here i am 47 years old and the onset and onrush of middle-age can be overwhelming and devastating.
when they die they don't go to heaven.many like myself, squandered our youth for the watchtower.years of are vital prime spent in the borg are gone now forever.

i was shopping at the thrift store today and ran across a methodist bible dated 1901 and 1929. i opened it up and saw "jehovah" all thru it.
does anyone know what to make of this?
i thought jws were the only ones that put the name in there so many times.
Thanks guys for the input. :)

since the wtbts isn't readily accepted in certain countries or territories, i wonder if this is one of the reasons they joined the un.
you know, to negotiate their acceptance or perhaps to promote stopping persecution in certain countries.. your thoughts please.. dy
Doubtfully Yours...
you said, "I wonder if this is one of the reasons they joined the UN. You know, to negotiate their acceptance or perhaps to promote stopping persecution in certain countries."
I had thought of this myself, but if that was the case, why didn't they say that to begin with? It would have been a much better excuse than, "We did it for the library card." Don't you think?
many dubs and even ex-dubs consider charles dazed russell to have been a sincere, tolerant and kindly man.. he wasn't.. note what justice orlady of the superior court in russell v. russell, dated october 19, 1908 stated in chuck and maria's divorce proceeding:.
"after a careful review of the 150 pages of testimony in this case, we are satisfied that the verdict was fully warranted, and was rightly sustained by refusing the defendant's motion...".
(chuck had previously attempted to dispute maria's charges of cruel and domineering behavior towards her.).
So, when did they decide that Jesus died on a stake, not a cross?

OMG! I just had a thought!
We used to hang on every word the GB said, like it was Jah himself talking. We didn't question anything. We were taking orders from people that don't live in the real world! They don't have a CLUE how to live by all those stupid rules out with the regular rake and file, and they wouldn't stand a chance either! They spend all their time at Bethal surrounded by other JWs. They don't interact with anyone outside the cult. They have taken every chance of temptation away from themselves (well, except for homosexuality). This is it. I've had another "de-programming" moment! Thank you, Farkel!
Okay, maybe I'm a little slow, but I've just never thought of it like that before.
i had thought of posting this under 'apostafests and get-togethers' originally..............but then wondered if we should risk being exposed to active jws.
imagine the conversation..............."fancy meeting you here!
" would they shun us??????
Well, going out in field service would definately be more interesting!
i haven't actually listened to the cd yet.
i have always thought prince was a true musical genius (my own opinion), however i am somewhat hesitant to listen to this as it might wreck my illusions.. heheh.. .
i received my christmas present from my brother in law yesterday, and it was the prince album "the rainbow children.
Nos -- you Val Kilmer look alike wit da bow in yo haid....
ROFLMAO! That was hilarious!!!
as a jw, were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
being raised (since the age of 7) as a jw, i grew up very frustrated sexually.
everything about sex carried a heavy burden of guilt.
Uh, yeah. I quickly got the name of "pr*** tease".
In the end when I kept turning myself into the elders, the elders asked me why I didn't just go thru with it. I sat there with my mouth open for awhile because I was so shocked. I finally told them that it was because it's always been pounded into my brain that pre-marital sex is wrong. Of course, they wanted to know all the nasty details. I can't believe I asked for that kind of treatment! And they were the ones that told me I let people talk down to me too much. Man, no wonder I stayed confused for so long.
