The Pyramids how old after all, and what are they all about????
by Crazyguy inhas anyone here done any serious research on the pyramids of egypt and others???
it has been said that these objects were roughly made around 2500-3000 bce (the 3 at giza).

This subject has always facinated me. The pyramids at the very least pre-date the date put forth by WTS for the building of the tower of bable. I do not trust the Egyptologist version of the history of the pyramids. They say they are tombs for the pharos even though no mummies have ever been found in them. The cutting of the stones especially the outside ones for me are not the real issue but rather the transportating of them due to their weight. Especially the massive granite ones in the kings chamber. Megolithic sites are all over the earth. Very impressive ones in Peru and Turkey and the dating of them goes way back, 10k - 20k.

by designs innfl commissioner roger goodell placed minnesota viking's player adrian peterson on indefinite suspension for using extreme measures in disciplining his son using a tree branch switch.. sports illustrated covered details about how the process works with the players union, the player, and the nfl.. www.si.com/nfl/2014/11/17/minnesota-vikings-adrian-peterson-suspended.
i remember vivid scenes in kingdom halls and in the homes of jws who used extreme measures to discipline their children.

A number of recent studies suggest that harsh corporal punishment permanently damages the gray matter in children, especially those in the 5 - 9 year age group.

New requirement to become an Elder or Ministerial Servant!
by hardtobeme init has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.
he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.
if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

When I served on the BOE it was required to "be visible in the field service." This was interpreted as you had to support Saturday field service. COs came and went who pushed Sundays, basically we just ignored them. I might ad that this was also pushed on the Regular Pioneers.
This worked in my favor when I stepped aside. One of the reasons I used since I had to work on Saturdays.

Scientists Should Not Dismiss Genesis So Quickly
by Chris Tann innasa discovery proves the bible scientifically accurate.
the debate.
for decades there has been a long standing debate between science and religion as to the validity of the biblical genesis account of creation.

It cracks me up how people take the Hubble images and attribute their beauty to the creator without ever realizing they have been digitally mastered with color pixels so we can see them.

Did Josephus believe in Jesus as The Christ?
by opusdei1972 inhere is the questioned josephus' text :.
now, there was about this time jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful worksa teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.
he drew over to him both many of the jews, and many of the gentiles.

As a Jewish general (or something like that) Josephus convinced his fellow military leaders to commit suicide rather than surrender to the Roman army. He himself however faked it and lived. From there he brown-nosed his way into the powerful Roman family the Flavians, even being adopted by them. From then on he wrote from the Roman view of things, a traitor and a con man supreme. A "Joseph Goebbels" of sorts, writing Roman propaganda. As a historian I wonder if he can even be trusted.

FuGK This Religion- Stop Ruining My Life!!!
by wallievase ini am sorry for the title but today just took the cake.
after not going to the meetings since august and trying to sort through this with my family, my wife today told me she wants to separate because of our differences over being a witness or not.. this is ridiculous.
so i said- how can you separate from me when the religion you whole heartedly believe says you can only separate for 3 reasons- abuse, willful non-support, or stopping her from her meeting attendance, etc.

Grounds for Separation
9 Paul’s words at 1 Corinthians 7:10-16 encourage marriage mates to stay together. Yet, some, after trying very hard to preserve their marriage relationship, have finally decided that, in all conscience, they have no choice but to separate. What may be the grounds for such a step?
10 Willful nonsupport is one basis for separation. When entering wedlock, a husband assumes the responsibility of providing for his wife and any children they may have. The man who does not provide for members of his household “has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.” (1 Timothy 5:8) So separation is possible if there is willful nonsupport. Of course, appointed elders should give careful consideration to an accusation that a Christian is refusing to support his wife and family. Stubborn refusal to support one’s family may result in disfellowshipping.
11 Extreme physical abuse is another basis for separation. Suppose an unbelieving mate often gets drunk, becomes enraged, and causes the believer physical harm. (Proverbs 23:29-35) Through prayer and by displaying the fruitage of Jehovah’s spirit, the believer may be able to prevent such outbursts and make the situation endurable. But if the point is reached where the health and life of the abused mate actually are in jeopardy, separation would be allowable Scripturally. Again, congregation elders should look into charges of physical abuse when two Christians are involved in the troubled marriage, and disfellowshipping action may have to be taken.—Compare Galatians 5:19-21; Titus 1:7.
12 Absolute endangerment of spirituality also provides a basis for separation. The believer in a religiously divided home should do everything possible to take advantage of God’s spiritual provisions. But separation is allowable if an unbelieving mate’s opposition (perhaps including physical restraint) makes it genuinely impossible to pursue true worship and actually imperils the believer’s spirituality. Yet, what if a very unhealthy spiritual state exists where both mates are believers? The elders should render assistance, but especially should the baptized husband work diligently to remedy the situation. Of course, if a baptized marriage partner acts like an apostate and tries to prevent his mate from serving Jehovah, the elders should handle matters according to the Scriptures. If disfellowshipping takes place in a case involving absolute endangerment of spirituality, willful nonsupport, or extreme physical abuse, the faithful Christian who seeks a legal separation would not be going against Paul’s counsel about taking a believer to court.—1 Corinthians 6:1-8.
13 If circumstances are extreme, then, separation may be warranted. But flimsy pretexts obviously should not be used to obtain a separation. Any Christians who do separate must bear personal responsibility for that action and should realize that all of us will render an account to Jehovah.—Hebrews 4:13.It wouldn't take much of a strech to say apostsy falls under #3 but this is about seperation and not divorce. Elders would be required to work at getting the couple back together.

TV.JW.org - Purpose?
by passwordprotected inthere's an interest point raised by stephen letts at around the 7 minute mark of the intro video;.
much of the equipment used to build the studio was made available by donation.
he twice mentions (once at the start of the video) the need for "support", which we can assume means donations.
