August KM provides solid evidence of declining JW morale
by sir82 inas you may or may not recall, the february '07 km (for the us) had a huge article, taking up the full 4 page insert, on the "blessings" of auxiliary pioneering.
the part covering that insert took up the entire service meeting (aside form the announcements).
the "encouragement" was that the us branch had set a goal of 160,000 auxiliary pioneers for the month of april ("if only one of every 6 publishers signs up, we can make it!")..

Did they ever get the targets for pioneers they ever asked for? I don't think its anything particularly new that they didn't get the number s they wanted.
I remember here in UK the call would go out for auxillary pioneers in April & August they would be lucky to get 75% of the number they wanted.
In my old congregation in addition to the two regular pioneers, we would be lucky to get another 3-4 in a "pioneer month".
In fact in all the years I was there 25+ we only ever had two regular pioneers, maybe three at one time. But mostly just two the Service Overseer and his wife.
I know a couple of auxillary pioneers who never reached the assigned number of hours. One because of problems didn't even manage half yet she put down the full amount. No one said a word.
So how many "pioneers" out there are doing the full number of hours?

What's the latest WTS position on surgical birth control?
by Gregor inyou know, vasectomies (require masturbation), tubal ligations, are these a "matter of conscience" (but you better do what we suggest)?
-
aniron
I had a vasectomy 18 years ago.
My wife and I decided it was the best way.
I fact what sort of clinched it was that an Elder who was a good friend had had it done and said we should consider it.
I also asked another Elder , one who was a real stickler for WT rules, about it, who checked out a Watchtower article with me and said it was OK to have it done.
After I had left in 1999, I heard that they had changed the ruling.
vasectomies (require masturbation)
not necessarily.

An Assembly "Experience"-and the rest of the story
by CaptainSchmideo ina brother was on the program for the saturday afternoon session as one of those "life experiences" interviews.
tells the tale about how he left a lucrative, well paying position to "help where the need was greater.
" moved from a major metropolitan area to a congregation in the rurals, was told by managers that the job he was going to was "a dead end".

Many years ago about 20 I think, I heard a very similar "experience" at a circuit assembly.
Brother (40+ yrs old) decides to sell buisness to devote himself to ministry, become full-time pioneer etc etc.
JW wife and children give support to his decision.
Takes part-time job
My son was friendly with his daughter at the time.
She told him yes, her father had sold the buisness a successful company for round £10 million
The part-time job ..... consultant to the company that bought his firm ...paying £40,000 a year.
Yes that was one pioneer who really struggled.
Last I heard was that he had started another company.

How do you view crosses now?
by reneeisorym inif you are a christian, how to you feel about crosses now?.

I came across this poem.
I CARRY A CROSS
I carry a cross in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am a Christian
No matter where I may beThe little cross is not magic
Nor is it a good luck charm
It isn’t meant to protect me
From any physical harmIts not for identification
For all the world to see
It’s simply an understanding
Between my saviour and meWhen I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or key
The cross is there to remind me
Of the price He paid for meIt reminds me, too, to be thankful
For my blessings day by day
And to strive to serve Him better
In all that I do and sayIt’s also a daily reminder
Of peace and comfort I share
With all who know my Master
And give themselves to His careSo I carry a cross in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That Jesus Christ is Lord of my life
If only I’ll let Him be“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit"

I know of an Elders son who one afternoon was caught in bed with a girl, both using cannabis.
That night he it was announced he had been approved as a Ministerial Servant.
Years later I heard he had run off with some girl and got married in Las Vegas.

2008 conventions
by cinnamon1642 inalthough no announcement has been made i think they are having 4 day conventions next summer.
look at this link and you'll see the dates already reserved for jw in rochester mn for thursday - sunday at different times next july and august.
it doesn't show thursday just as a day to clean because if you look at this year it just shows friday - sunday.. .

Well so much for the rumours that were going round among JW's that this years conventions would be the last.
Looks like Jehovah cancelled Armageddon again for another year.

When will the JW's annual publisher growth rate finally hit zero?
by yaddayadda inabout 10 years ago i did a simple projection for when the organisation's annual publisher growth rate would hit zero.
the date i arrived at was 2009. my rough projection was based on the preceding 20 worldwide annual reports.
obviously my projection was wrong.

But what is increase or decrease in their numbers?
Just before I stopped attending meetings etc in 1999, the numbers in Britain were in round numbers:
average publishers 126,000
peak publishers 132,000
The latest report 2006 reads:
average publishers 122,000
peak publishers 129,000
So they are respectively 4,000 and 3,000 down on the 1999 figures.
Yet they claim an increase of 1% ...but this is only on the figures for the year before.
Yet looking back they are 2-3% down on the older numbers.
Can they claim an increase when technically they have not even got back to the numbers they were at 8-9 years ago?

Let the stones cry out!
by WTWizard inhow often have you heard the phrase "if we don't preach, the stones would cry out"?
this is in regard to the ministry.. what i cannot figure out is (1) this is so urgent that we have to be out 18+ hours a day doing it, (2) we have to endure all sorts of conditions to accomplish our ministry, and (3) we are supposed to get it perfect so people can be drawn in.
so, why don't the stones get to help us out?

WHY IS JEHOVAH NOT LIFTING A DAMN FINGER TO HELP US ACCOMPLISH THE MINISTRY
But he has! He set up the Watchtower organisation to provide all the teaching and training you will need to accomplish your ministry. He had all those magazines and books etc published. He arranged all those assemblies and coventions.
Sorry can't carry on for laughing
