WTS Higher Education Policy

a couple of topics recently have made me think about exactly how cynical are the wts when it comes to their higher education policy for the rank and file.. first one was mavie's about her forthcoming jc which prompted me to flick through richard dawkins the god delusion.

dawkins quotes from a study published in mensa magazine 2002; .

"of 43 studies carried out since 1927 on the relationship between religious belief and one's intelligence and/or educational level, all but four found an inverse connection.

Strangely through my years as a JW. I came across many highly educated people. Doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, couple of University Dons. Guys who ran there own buisnesses, one or two millionaires even.

I remember one guy who was a barrister. I asked him why he was a JW. His surprising reply was, that it was a religion he didn't have to think about. He was a busy man, dealing with court cases each day. So as a JW it was all set out for him, what to believe what to do, how to behave. If some belief was wrong it was not his fault, and it could be changed. In fact when I thought about it his talks always did sound as if he was summing up at some court case.

I walked out of the "Oral Sex" instruction meeting today, anti witness!

any of you ex-dubs who are wondering why you left should read the study lesson today on oral sex.

let's also consider that the borg considers it essential that the brothers bring their young childer to all the meetings and make sure that they pay attention to the material.

Having read this article can you tell me in which paragraph the "very detailed description of oral sex" can be found?

As I can't find it.

Though I agree that its not a subject to discuss where very young children are present.

But sex education classes in schools go into more detail than this Watchtower does.

The WT went on about this subject 20+ years ago. It didn't stop most JW's back then and it won't now.

It didn't stop my wife and I back then. I'm sure it won't stop many now. Whether married or not.

World Report When?

i keep seeing of pdf files of forthcoming watchtowers like the 15th jan, 15th feb editions.. are they not publishing the worldwide report in this magazines?

they used to be in the ist jan edition, then switched to the 1st feb edition.

anyone any idea wheh and in what the report will be published?

Well I'm sure that the report will appear on JWD somehow.

Mr. Flippers Son Gets Response Back from Witness Mother- Then Responds

well it happened.

my son got a response back from his paranoid witness mother.

as nice as he was , she couldn't help but try to make him feel guilty !

Its good that your son was able to reply in such a calm measured way.

I hope it makes his mother think more about the WT.

The only thing I would pick on is his telling of the name Jehovah and his college instructor, a Hebrew scholar, saying it was Martin Luther in the 1600's who came up with the name. The name Jehovah was formulated in the 12th century my a Catholic monk, well before Martin Luther came along.

Global Warming

there was a record high temp set today.

the slopes usually open around the 1st of the month, now they expect to open the 1st of december, it's not even cold enough for making snow.. i wonder how much it's going to take for enough people to realize it's getting hotter every year to do something about it.. i guess we'll see.. wlg.

During the 1970's we were told that we would be entering a mini-ice age by the end of the century.

I watched a program last night about the earth and the effect of volcanoes. The geologist says that millions of years ago the volcanoes were spewing out tons and tons of Carbon Dioxide. But despite that the Earth totally froze over, they call it "Snowball Earth". Then the volcanoes erupting and the Earth warmed up. Then time moves on and the Earth becomes like a greenhouse and life flourishes. Then we have the Ice-Ages again.

Then another program about the Earth tells me all about the last Ice-Age 10,000 years ago. They travel all over the world showing signs of the effect of the Ice Age. Then this goeologist and that goeolist and scientists etc.... say that we are just coming to the END of the last Ice Age. Doesn't an END of an Ice Age mean that the ice is supposed to be melting??

Then I read a report about the Polar Bears. It tells me that these bears are struggling to find any ice, food and are coming into townships in Canada looking for food. But then I read an item about the town of Churchill on Hudson Bay. Polar Bears have been coming into that town for 200 years because its on their migration route. Also that the ice on that coast has been appearing earlier and earlier over the last 5 years and lasting longer.

Then another report tells me that the average World Temperature is LOWER than it was 10 years ago.

I'm beginning to think that Global Warming is the great political scare story of the century. It seems to have become the excuse to impose more and more taxes on people.

elizabeth gladys "millvina" dean of southampton, england, who was 2 months old at the time of the titanic sinking, is now the disaster's only remaining survivor, according to the titanic historical society.

ok so just got this from msn.

so only 1 survivor left from titanic - she was 2 months old in 1912 - 2 years from 1914. you can see why "the generation" etc.

I believe on another thread that at the annual meeting of the WTBTS there was a talk saying that the "generation" of Matt 24, is now ALL the "anointed" from 33CE onwards, not just those from 1914.

It is supposed to be the subject for study in the February 15th, 2008 Watchtower.

We'll have to wait and see.

But nothing surprises me anymore about how they juggle these things to make them fit changing times.

Serious question about WT policy on anointed immortality.

someone correct me if i'm not entirely clear on any possible "new light" on this issue, but i got to wondering about something that the watchtower teaches that seems downright frightening.

okay, so the "anointed" are supposed to be whisked right up to heaven after death, "in the twinkling of an eye" as the scripture goes, to an immortal life serving as princes with jesus and co-ruling with him for the millennial reign.

am i correct so far?

Jesus’ corulers, on the other hand, receive the gift of immortality, which is proof of Jehovah’s unshakable confidence in their faithfulness.

I was just thinking.

According to the WT the "anointed" are chosen for their faithfulness etc on the earth now and are rewarded with heavenly life.

But I thought who is the most faithful?

The "Anointed" one who lives for maybe 90 yrs on earth. Who according to the latest, has no more "holy spirit" than anyone else in the WT.

Or the member of the "other sheep" who lives through this system on earth, then goes through Armageddon, and its horrors.

Then spends the next 1,000 years under Christs rule, bringing the earth back to Paradise, then to be "tested" by Satan at the end of that before being declared righteous.

It seems to me that a person who spends less than a tenth of that time on earth gets a better reward than one who goes through a 1,000+ years on earth.
