how many of you were actually brought into the jws by someone at your door?

My mom was assimilated by 2 women at the door when I was 9. Soon the whole family was assimilated as well, except for 1 brother who took off to live with our dad-we did not see him again for about 10 years. I was baptized 2 days after my 12th birthday, under pressure from my stepfather (AKA The Prince of Darkness). Resistance is futile-you will be assimilated!! I've got rid of most of the nanoprobes now, though.

Do you do any volunteer/community service work?

i'm currently considering getting involved in some volunteer/community service type work.. any of you all do any kind of community/volunteer work that is fun and rewarding?

I help organize big fund raisers for Make-a-Wish, the org. that grants special wishes to kids facing life-threatening illness. These are lots of work for me, but I always need volunteers to help for an hour or so; most charitable events are like this, you just have to ask, and they'll put you to work! Also, I periodically donate supplies to Humane Society. That's an easy one to do: I tell everyone what I'm doing (friends, family, customers, strangers.) They all pitch in, some give cans of dog food, others give a few bucks so I can buy stuff at the store. Eventually, when I've got a trunk full, I drop it off at the shelter. It only costs me whatever I personally donate, and a few minutes to drive to the animal shelter-but boy, it makes a difference!
Find an issue you care about, and have fun!

Elsewhere-funny thing, I just found out today that my lab partner in a college class (with whom I've grown pretty friendly) is a practicing JW. We were shooting the breeze, the subject turned to religion, and I said that I was an XJW. She said quickly, "let's not talk about it, I am a witness." Then she went on chatting with me as before. All I can assume is that everything is cool as long as we don't talk religion. Hope so, because it's not so easy to make friends, and she and I get along really well. We'll see how things go next week in lab. Good luck with your job; I hope things are cool with the new bossman.

Lady Lee-What I was expressing in my earlier post (besides my own anger) was the sincere hope that his victim (and all other victimized children out there) would find her own power, and become a survivor instead of a victim. If, however, the wronged party is unable to exact revenge-and of course I mean through the courts, not through violence-this guy's karma will catch up to him eventually. If there is justice in the universe (and believe it, there is!) this guy will have an awful life and will know no peace until he makes amends. I truly wish the best for the little girl, and hope that she has a supportive family around her to help her heal. I apologize if my earlier post was too curt to make these points clear. I was furious at that pedophilic freak when I wrote it, and was less than eloquent.

i saw this flick last night.

the most violent movie i've ever seen, hands down.

a little more and it would have gotten an nc-17 rating for sure.. that being said -- brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Saw it last night. Loved the seamless blending of extreme violence and flat-out funny dialogue. Not Tarantino's best, but certainly better than most of what's out there. Go see it now, you'll thank me later.
