it feels good to know I wasn't the only one squirming in my chair during the meetings. I'm not pure evil, just human. an independent thinking human.

oh, lord! don't start with the "fulfilling bible prophecy"!
and what's wrong with touching the unclean thing? it's kinda fun!
I'm most proud of having successfully steered a guy away from studying with a JW girl by telling him my life story over soda and cigarettes over the course of a few weeks. that was three years ago this summer, and we're getting married in two months. score one for the apostates! -

PINATA?????
by integ indoes anyone know where i can find any information in any of the watchtower material in regards to pinatas???
i have heard that the society did a flip/flop on the issue, saying that it was okay to celebrate it now, explaining that we shouldn't be so nit-picky about how a practice was celebrated in the past, and concentrate more on what its meaning is today....that despite the pinatas' pagan roots, the practice of celebrating it or whatever, does not have the same meaning today, so it's up to an individuals conscience now.
i've asked this question before, but have not received any response.

well, I care. but, alas, I have no inside scoop on how the Borg views pinatas. I make one for my kids' birthday ever year. I have a feeling they would look down on the birthday celebrating foremost, and the pinata business would be an afterthought.
I'm sure there's some gory story behind it. the Aztecs used to fill human heads with candy and beat them into a pulp for the kiddos or some such nonsense. which makes you wonder why JWs will wear wedding rings on the left hand, when it stems from a PAGAN belief that the ring finger vein leads directly to the heart. IF THAT'S NOT PAGAN, WHAT IS? I think that borders on spiritism, myself... -

What books have made you cry?
by Fe2O3Girl inbonus points if you don't mention wt publications!!
the first book that ever made me cry was the grapes of wrath by john steinbeck.
most recently, i was reduced to a blubbering wreck reading the five people you meet in heaven by mitch albom.

Cold Mountain had me bawling. I love a good cry over a book. it's so rare that you can feel such a deep emotion without it being devastating to your personal life. kind of like a good exercise for the tear ducts.

Was The Ministry Ever Rewarding To You?
by minimus ini only know of a few witnesses that believe that.
did you feel that the ministry was especially rewarding and gratifying to you?
-
LuckyNun
I was always on the lookout for that hot guy who'd just stepped out of the shower and only had time to wrap a towel around his waist in order to answer the door after I knocked. I was disappointed on a regular basis. I would have to say, no, the ministry was not rewarding to me.

I have had this experience a few times, always some mundane thing. like I dreamed about the new desks we were going to have after Winter Break when I was in sixth grade. and when I worked in fast food, I had a dream about the new menu board, and I was able to punch in this lady's order before she asked for it. she wasn't a regular, I just knew she was going to order a certain value meal and I was going to have to look back at the board to see what the new number was. maybe it was my brain fast-forwarding by accident, I don't know. we'll find out when we die, I guess.
why can't I dream about Lotto numbers or finding a duffel bag of cash? instead I have psychic dreams about blue plastic chairs and bacon cheeseburgers! -

this is so funny. a good example of "worldly witnessing". I bet this documentary gets written up in the Watchtower and gets put on the "safe list" of movies JWs can watch. nothing like a good documentary to keep that persecution complex going strong. you'd think Hitler was originally out to eradicate the JWs and not Jews, they way the Society spins it. never mind the Gypsies and homosexuals and Blacks and other groups s**t on by the Nazi f**ktards.
will this be added as part of the "college education" curriculum offered by the Society's publications? because that would be super. -

How To Enjoy Assemblies By Being Rebellious
by metatron in1. go out to lunch at every session.
bring back bags of fast food that say "burger king".
or "mcdonalds" on them.

LuckyNun
oh, now THAT'S funny. remember when people who couldn't afford it or for dietary reasons brought food from home for assemblies and conventions were looked down on because they weren't contributing by buying the Society's food?
