Why don't Lurkers Post?
by sweet pea inwhen i came to the realisation that my whole religious upbringing was in question and i was led to this site, i immediately wanted to get involved - i could see that there was a lot of caring, spiritual people here that had created an amazing community and i wanted to be a part of that community (to release some pent up feelings and to maybe help others in some way) but having read that many of you guys lurked for months and in some cases years before you finally posted - i'm intrigued as to why?????
was it selfishness - couldn't bring yourself to commit and be a part of the community, you were just content to observe?
was it laziness?

Was Jesus a Buddist?
by Illyrian ini started investigating this issue a few months back after seeing a documentary that intrigued me.
some of you may disagree with my findings and that is ok, but hopefully we can have a constructive discussion and hear both sides of the arguments.
i personally was deeply impressed, to say the least, by the apparent cogency and deep correlations of evidentiary materials that survived to this day, which supports this thesis.. there is so much more that can be or should be said here but i will try to keep this text as short as possible so as to keep people interested enough to read it.. buddhism appeared some 500 years before jesus arrival.

It just points to the commonality in religion and the concepts that human beings hope for a value.

i don't know the answer, but i will admit that i since a few years am one of them.
i read here almost every day.. like many others here i am an ex-jw, left the organisation about 25 years ago and never regretted it.. .

Time and Distance - a Guy Thing?
by compound complex inhi guys and gals,.
this is probably a really dumb question, but are there others out there who measure time and distance when they travel - anywhere?
i understand the occasional setting of the travel odometer to check your auto's mileage.

Maybe the email was previously registered with that username by you in the past and you don't remember, or someone else that made a typo. My guess is you then recovered the password and here you are.

Intercepting JW's on the 4th of July! Oh what fun!
by HadEnuf ini must tell you an interesting story from today.
gary and i went thru a drive-thru for breakfast and were sitting at our local park (in the car) enjoying our high fat, high cholesterol breakfast when, low and behold, here comes a group of jw's sloooooowly checking out the area.
(this is right by the river on the green circle trail, which is a favorite place for joggers, walkers, bikers, etc.

Anti-witnessing makes me gleeful and so does JWs getting what they deserve.

I'm Not Minimus.
by Blueblades ini don't get the responses to my topics as he does.
yet i have made the same kind of topics in the past as he has done.
it will take me some time to show the comparisons.

Heck who knows. I always think I'll get a great response and then no one ends up replying to some of my topics without shameful bumping. Have you considered time of day of the post?

Evolution of Richie: Post JW
by RichieRich ini have many hopes for this post.
ideally, it will be an eloquent explanation of my actions, more for myself than anyone else.
also, i hope that there are tons of others out there who have, or have had similar feelings and experiences who can contribute insight to the discussion.. as a witness, my mind was relatively closed.

How many happy JW marriages do you know of?
by Bonnie_Clyde injust reading frequent flyer miles on the subject of feeling guilty for having a happy marriage with a non-jw.. in our congregation which i haven't attended for about a year, i can only think of two or three who seem to be happy.
of course, i don't know what happens behind closed doors, but i know of several who admit they are unhappy.
i wrote out a long list of couples who have divorced over the last 20 years--including three elders (one is on his second divorce).

It floored me when I was about 18 and someone told me she and her husband were separating for a while. People gave them such a hard time over it too. I just tried to be her friend and encouraged her when she said she was going to counselling. I knew quite a few happy couples but most of them didn't marry as JWs so I'm not sure how typical that is. It seemed the 30's was where all the dissatisfaction hit.
