I've tried to pattern that one out of my speech and say JWs etc. I also deliberately say church when talking to people instead of making them learn the dub words.

how we get trapped!
by the mole inmy dad and i spoke over lunch the other day about our religion.
he told me that he bumped into two of my cousins who are pioneers at the auburn congregation..he told them he was disapointed and was not invited to their party...after he told me his conversation with them he repeatedly kept on saying "the truth".
i finally corrected him and told him that was one of the ways to suppress him buy using words like that to inflict guilt and that there is no other truth when there is.

Shrinking Ice Cream RANT!!!
by Funchback ini don't know what brands of ice cream are sold in your neighborhood, but in philadelphia there is a brand called breyer's that is very popular.
ice cream sizes by all ice cream companies used to come in pints, quarts, and half-gallons.
i haven't seen a pint of ice cream (other than ben & jerry's) for many years.

That is so true about JWs seeing only the negative things now that you are out. Likely she doesnt see how much happier and better off you are. Good for you for wanting to help other people exit, that is so true that nothing will work on everyone because they all came or stayed for the same reason. I am glad you have been able to find balance in your lives and hope your family will be able to as well soon.

how many donated for literature taken.
personally, i never gave a dime, yet ordered a lot of literature including "deluxe" bibles, cds, bound volumes, etc..

My mother was always on my case that I should donate. I remember I got five dollars from a brother after giving a talk once and let her see me putting it in like I was thanking them for my speaking ability then. When I was younger I used to put a dollar in at assemblies and such but I decided there were better things to do with my money and always just said yes when I was asked if I had donated anything to the society lately by my mother.

I never got into that fascination like the other dubs in motel rooms but my mom was hardcore that way how she'd check it and highlight it or slip a track in. And the ones that just said god or lord she'd draw an arrow to the forward about the tetragrammaton.

Would You Go To A Seminar Exposing The Society's "Secrets"?
by minimus ini was sent a letter stating that on friday august 27, 2004, there will be a seminar exposing the watchtower society's history and secrets.
during the program, they will have a guest speaker telling his story as to how he was abused by a governing body member at world headquarters.
another will testify that he was about to be appointed a ministerial servant while carrying on in an adulterous relationship.......besides exposing the "secrets", the letter says they'll be exposing the occult connections of the society, the mental manipulation and mind control, even elevated anxiety and mental illness amongst jws.

Divorce rate of JW's less than the rest of the "world"??
by Samdownunder inthroughout my teen years when my doubt was high and my hesitancy to commit was even higher, my father always told me that no life in the world could ever compare to life in the "truth".
he said the peace and joy jw's experience in their lives is better than anything i could find out there in "satans world".
he also constantly threw out the statistic( as he is a bullshit artist) that witness marriages have less than a 5% divorce rate, as compared to 50% outside the "truth".

i think it's less amongst jws because you can't unless it's "scriptural".
And even then there is pressure to forgive.
