For many talks from publishers up to elders and even some CO's, it was just painful to listen to them-done all wrong. Even if a W would be handed out, the people that sucked kept on sucking, myself included probably. Then, in High School I took a speech class and I learned more in that one class that I had for 10 years in the theocratic school. The approach is all wrong with the theocractic school book and the focus is all out of whack. Someone needs to redesign it and for that matter retool the entire ministry school. Although, then people might actually get better at public speaking making their brain washing more effective, forget about it. Let it suck!

I went to my 5 year reunion back in January at a concerted effort. I had to take off work, and travel over an hour just to get there but it was worth the effort. I loved telling everyone that I was no longer a dub and that I didn't really believe in religion any more or even God for that matter. I guess everyone was surprised by my heathen ways. The funniest thing was that the class president asked me to say an opening prayer-need I say I had to decline, tempting as it was.
The reunion was very lame but I did get the chance to see some old friends and in some cases apologize for my crazy dub ways back then. In my graduation class there were three other dubs as well. I was looking forward to seeing them there but I guessed they all bailed, for none of them showed up. I asked my parents what they were doing but they seemed pretty mute on the subject. Although, through third parties I hear that all my old dub friends from my school are basically losers, still stuck in that small town with no education or future. I can't wait to the 10th year reunion, I'll have so much to brag about. Oh, and my picture with my class did get in the local paper.

Ex-elders: did you ever confront anyone on FAKE HOURS
by Quotes ina few recent threads have been about faking hours in field service reports (for example, this one: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/72429/1.ashx).
a number of posters said they would never actually go in service, but still magically get in their hours each month.
my question to you ex-elders: did you ever confront someone on this?

This may be a little off subject, but what about faking other things on your time slip such as return visits and Bible studies? I for the most part did honestly report these other statistics accurately along with my time accept for my last year but I think this area may be even more skewed than hours. I remember when I was a regular pioneer and I had on a regular basis 5 Bible studies a month.
The C.O. came to our hall and said that I was doing a good job but then this other reg. pioneer elder in our hall who had been to Bethel tried to discredit me by saying that my actual Bible studies were more like 2 because I only met with certain Bible studies twice a month and not every week. I guess technically there are all these rules about how to report studies and return visits like you can't count an RV until the third visit, etc. but the average publisher or even pioneer doesn't know the exact rules. Plus, it's not like anyone goes over the rules ever, thus I suspect widespread inaccuracy on this data, maybe even more than time. But hey, if you can't count time accurately, what else can't you count?
I must admit that towards the end I would try to compesate my low hours but beefing up other things like say throwing in a few extra R.V.'s. So, my time slip might say only 5 hours, but look he has 20 return visits, wow, that's quality not quantity.

What Proof Is there that Jehovah Selected them in 1918?
by VM44 inthe watchtower bases its authority on the claim jehovah made an inspection of christianity around the years 1918/1919 and selected the bible students (now jehovah's witnesses).
ok....but other than making this claim (over and over and over again!
) what proof does the wt present that they were indeed selected?

There is this movie with Kevin Spacey who is a college professor and who sleeps with a student-"Life of David Gray" or something. First watch that movie for some good ideas and I think you will know what to do. I was asking around my school about professors and students hooking up-seems like the situation regulary occurs. Now at my school, the professor would be left go but every university is somewhat different and in fact some schools even have guidelines, you know, don't be having sex with a student who is actively taking your class but beyond that, anything goes.
I say if you can get a good grade, go for it, why not-you are in college. However, I know a lot of girls who do better their grade just because of their looks which ultimately affects some professors to be more generous to them without even putting out. I guess it's all how you approach it.

Just when I think, ah, this will be the last time I visit this sight, I get pulled back in. This sight has helped me a great deal and with my life growing up in the terrible JW cult and that I'm not alone in my effort to get back to normacy. Also, sadly this sight has also made me realize that I have gotten out in tact with only 21 years wasted, I'm now 24, and that many more people on this board have suffered far worse than me at the hands of the WT org.
I'm pretty much about as healed as I'm going to be, the scar is still very much there, I've accepted how I was raised and I have been able to move on. However, there is still the constant battle because my parents are still very much active dubs, thus the war goes on. I also look forward to the many years ahead see all JW prohecy to be completly proven false, the logical end is just around the corner, that's what I tell my parents.

I have a floater and mostly see it in bright sunlight when I'm not focusing on anything. I asked my eye doctor because I'm a bit of a hypocondriac and she said that the floater is formed within your pupil as you are growing inside the womb. It's just a flaw and many people have them, nothing can be done yet to fix so live with it. Then again, you may want to get your own professional opinion.

Elder Gives Talk About "Unbelievers" & "Unbeliever" Calls Him An "Asshole"
by minimus inthe husband of a sister attended the public talk and the visiting elder came down hard on "unbelievers" and "worldly" people.
he spoke about how miserable it is for faithful sisters to be married to such "worldly unbelievers" because they cannot share the same spiritual goals.
this man recently had started to attend some meetings because his wife pretty much begged him to.

There were several "worldy" ones there. I heard one lady say "10 mintues devoted to her, 30 minutes devoted to their religion. Did that seem weird to you?"
How sad, even in death, dubs are still sacrificing their time to the WT, could that 20 minutes be added to your time slip posthumously?

but basically the point was that convention time is the best way for the WTBTS to advertise its product.
Yes, it probably is because of the concentration of so many JW's but it seems as if the WT bungles their opportunity. You may have 20 thousand dubs in Philly but they all stick to themselves for the most part. They have to get up early, get some free hotel breakfast food, maybe an extra bagel for lunch as well, shuffle to the convention, lot leave the stadium during lunch, and then back to the hotel maybe with a stop off for something to eat maybe. The process seems so isolating. To me it's like taking a field trip yet not seeing anything. Here they have the power of some mostly 20 thousand good willed people, yet the WT throws it away because they are afraid if you interact with the community, bad things might happen.
