Yea, it is getting weird with how people want to squash the valid historical fact that the Jewish Pharisees did plead for Christ to be killed. This isn't a valid excuse for anti-Semitism but it is unethical to try and whitewash/deny the facts of the matter...

This is just getting stupid
by spiritwalker inthis a quote from cnn.com.
in which they are talking about a new movie that is about the last ours of jesus christ ... .
the movie, whose dialogue is in latin and aramaic, covers the final 12 hours in the life of jesus christ and has come under fire from some jewish groups who claim its story could foment anti-semitism by tying christ's death to jewish authorities.. .

It shows the heartset of the organization in general...these men do not care if you are doing as much as spiritually possible but rather just want businesslike results...

What is the appeal of Watchtower Farm and Patterson?
by Never Was ina little background on me.
i have never been a jw or had any desire to be one.
i definitely have no desire to join.

I grew up in the territory of Watchtower Farms and both congregations I went to growing up had a number of farm brothers (most of the elders were Bethelites) so my impressions of Wallkill aren't as dire as most of yours. I saw the good (sorry, but it still seems a most efficient operation to me) and the bad (no freedom even for a JW, too much stress, and slave wages)...I still feel sadness at how people working there willingly put themselves into such a hard situation that does serious damage to their careers for life. Still, I didn't find it nearly as boring or monotoneous as some here but it did have way too many restrictions that had nothing to do with spirituality...then again, that is the modus operandi of the Society.

It was fun, it was real, it was real fun...
by gentlesoul inhey everyone, i don't know why i feel the need to come here and say this as i don't frequent this site anyways but i guess out of respect i feel to say what i got to say.
i have never been in a lot of your shoes and i thank god for that.
i am sorry that you all have been put through what you experienced in being a jehovahs witness.

It just seems that this wasn't the site for you, gentlesoul; ex-JWs are usually the last people who need more people coming to 'teach' them. This type of site is just the type of thing an ex & current JW needs; if posters here aren't brutally honest then there aren't many other places to turn. Yes, sometimes it does smack of too much cynicism & bitterness but the majority of people here have lost much in their dealings with the Watchtower Society and honestly need a place to vent their feelings.
I do note a sincere note in the original post so I don't think you mean harm...just picked the wrong forum for your intentions. Hope you find what you are looking for in life...

When you were a dub.....did you ever fall asleep when you prayed in bed?
by gumby inwell i did .....all the time.
it always bothered me that i couldn't even stay awake to thank my god.
i found out later many did the same.
-
cypher50
It happens but I don't feel guilty for it because I don't just pray to 'get things'. When I pray at night, I try to just make it about my feelings and thoughts on life so it is usually relaxing enough that I would fall asleep anyway...

Making 607 crumble
by ellderwho induring my eight month long study with "elder bob" (moms husband) we have batted around many subjects to say the least.
but the one that really stands out is the dreaded date of 607 bc.
im sorry i just will not let up with this date, and him having to prove it can stand.

Apparently there cannot be much secular evidence for the traditional chronology because according to the the site you recommended there is uncertainty between 586 or 587. So much for the abundance of secular evidence.
Um, that is how actual scientific chronology works. It is very foolish & prideful to exclaim that you have an exact date of when something happened...the methods used to come to the conclusion of 586/587 are accurate only to the degree of getting the year nearly accurate. I don't see how this would disprove the secular evidence...
And I don't see how you easily disclaim secular evidence to the contrary when you still haven't provided any "secular" evidence regarding 607 B.C....and you included one piece of evidence (the Aid book) who has had two of its own authors say that it wasn't entirely forthright on the subject (both R. Franz & E. Dunlap)....

SEX: As a JW, Were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
by Funchback inas a jw, were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
being raised (since the age of 7) as a jw, i grew up very frustrated sexually.
everything about sex carried a heavy burden of guilt.

If we are going to get technical, my first sexual experience was with another JW: myself. LOLOLOLOL

No, because the JW indoctination left me extremely innocent and I used to run from women before it even got to that stage.
True, true, true. I'm not unexperienced (thank goodness) but till this day I am totally confused on approaching women because I keep having these thoughts in the back of my head telling me that it is all wrong and dirty. Probably have to go to therapy for that stuff...thanks Watchtower organization!

"The Hobbit" Movie?
by Gerard infortunately, he seems to be interested!
jackson keen on hobbit movie .
lord of the rings director peter jackson is interested in making jrr tolkien's the hobbit.

Well, billygoat, I don't think that this would turn out like the SW prequels because 1) the screenplay would be based off an already well-known story & 2) a Hobbit movie would be made fairly close to the LOTR trilogy movies.

What is the big deal about the seats? Oh wait, I forgot that I grew up in the Watchtower Farm circuit...the Assembly Hall in Monroe, NY wasn't amazing but it did manage to have comfortable seats to sleep in...
