i didn't talk about them for the first 8 years after leaving, then i joined here, being here it's hard not to talk about the bastards, and i do enjoy coming here for the obvious reasons, so, it's a vicious vicious circle, ha ha ha, but i'm not complaining.

yes, i know that's probably the only real want my mom has in this world, that my brother and i are happy, she wouldn't even hint that we would be happy in 'the truth' because we've gone way too far from that. i often feel a failure in front of my mom because i am not a very happy person, but to me the more i mess up and the more mistakes i make, the more i know i am experiencing real things, not those dictated by others, and i get some good feeling from that, and i think my mom does too.

Any Storytellers in your Family?
by Sunnygal41 inmy mom's dad was a regular cut up..........he took great delight in telling us two girls tall tales just to see our eyes bug out of our heads!
for example, he told us about these cows they called "side hill wampuses" they could stand on the sides of steep hills because two legs on one side of their body were so short, the legs on the other side were regular length.
that way they didn't fall over while eating.

my grandad on my mothers side (her stepfather) used to tell us war stories, a lot of day to day life stuff, the navy got the gravy and the army got beans beans beans! this was in poland, then he was captured and so we got stories about doing hard labour in prisoner of war camps, he used to show us the scars on his hands from breaking rocks, then he would tell us how he and his friend stole a german plane, his friend spoke german so they fooled the german air traffic controllers, and flew to scotland, somehow got there safely then came down into england, met my grandma and lived life out until his death.

Idiotic things only a jw would say
by micheal ina c.o in one of his friday night talks noticed when he was invited for meals at the brothers and sisters homes that everyone has their chairs and sofa's pointed at the direction of the television set and asked why do people do that.
then he went on to strongly suggest that everyone change this and either have their furniture pointed somewhere else or get rid of the television.
what a total moron!!

like all window and gutter fixers, my clothes are covered with a hundred finger marks where i have used my forefinger to point in the mastic and then just wiped it on the nearest thing to hand, ie, me.
i look like i have been the victim of a 1000 seagull bomber raid.

How do you interact with your worldly relatives?

now that i am no longer a jw, i can associate, and celebrate holidays and other family traditions with my non-jw relatives.
however i am sometimes bitter because i missed so many experiences as a child with my relatives that they seem almost like strangers rather than relatives.. does anyone else feel this way, and how have you bridged the gap?
