  What are the reasons?

  hi all,.

  someone asked me the other day why i am so interested in reading about jws,ex jws and things that are going on with the wts.. i think for the most part,only those who have been involved with the wts can understand why we are so interested in the subject.. of course having believed everything the wts has told us over the years and dedicating our lives to it kept us tied in with them.. what are the different reasons that you all have for continuing to be preocupied with the wts?.

  Continuing does not apply in my case. This really is "new light" to me. I have spent far too much time over the last two weeks examining the teachings of the WTBTS. In my case it's because I want to seperate fact from fiction. The best liars I've know, told stories that were mostly true. It made their stories much more believable.
  That axiom doesn't seem to apply here. I'm having difficulty finding truth admist their lies. I hope eventually I'll answer enough questions to enable myself to move on and be able to look back and laugh at how gullible I was. Perhaps I'll just grow weary of it.

  Living A Lie

  i am sick of living a lie, yet afraid to change it.

  married to a man who refuses to listen, who would rather plug his ears and shout "nooooooo" is taking it's tole.

  i am afraid to speak my mind about my doubt, my thoughts, and what i'm learning, as i'm not ready to cross that point of no return.

  I have no good advice to offer. I'm a river of questions flowing from a puddle of answers.
  I will change the subject though;

  I think you need to define "congregation". To me, this board is a virtual congregation of like-minded individuals. I don't see the necessity of physically attending a specific Hall or Church in order to have association.

  I am new here. The above comment reflects my sentiment. I feel privileged to be here. Yelldell was emotionally disturbed. She received love, compassion, and understanding here. I do not have the words to describe the kindness shown to her on this board. She chose to reject this. I pray that her "congregation" is able to do better. I feel sadness because I fear they will fail.

  (sorry to interrupt your peaceful day).. i just had an interesting talk with a jw friend of mine.

  during this talk i was explaining to him why i was reluctant to be baptised a jw.

  we got into many lengthy discussions on various topics.. one thing we discussed was jehovah (duh!

  True. Suicidal to anyone who dared to challenge an elder or speaker. The Feb. 15, 2001 WT study articles IMHO discourage these types of questions(I think thats why they emphasize Apostates being destroyed and Jehovah's people being submissive).

  Read Insight On the Scriptures pgs. 362,363 "Those for whom Christ is Mediator", "Inaugration of the New Covenant", and "Blessings to Mankind in General".
  RR does not misrepresent what is stated there. What the "FDS" is saying here is 'Christ mediates between the anionted and Jehovah. The anointed mediate between Christ and the great crowd.' Some of the verbage is a little confusing. The first sentence under "Blessings to Mankind in General" is fairly clear though.

  When should you Disassociate yourself?

  i have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.

  the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.

  my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

  there is a thread already started on the subject of the fds elsewhere but i thought we may as well deal with aspect.. do we need a fds?.

  what would we miss if we didn't have one?.

  I have been out of the loop for a while, so I'm not sure how accurate these statements are, but I remember hearing things like; Jdubs have the biggest 'construction company' in the world and they have the biggest 'trucking company' in the US.
  Somehow I missed those activities being emphasized in my studies of the Scriptures.

  today though, i heard a true story i would have loved to use as an "effective introduction" in a talk.

  it seems two southern gentlemen were out frog gigging in a very remote area.

  Regardless of the complexity of cipher used to encrypt correspondence, it seems there is always someone clever enough to decode the communication. I applaud your mental dexterity, though I fear the precedent you have set.
  PLEASE, a WARNING to all who might be inclined to read all text printed on this thread backwards! The mantras contained therein are quite powerful and difficult for even the most adept to manage. You think RHW's BHWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA is effective..............

  i've really enjoyed the conversations about music, poetry, movies, books and short storys.

  i thought it would be interesting to read about little known news from around the world, so i'll start with some from the tiny dot where i live on this ball of mud we call earth.. i just read in the paper this morning that the people of port clinton, ohio are celebrating new years by dropping a 500 pound fiberglass walleye fish into lake erie.

  we people here in ohio have a certain panache.. the tornado in xenia, ohio this summer missed my daughter's house by a block and a half.
