- X - 4th of July
I don't encounter many X fans. It's a must for me on...4th of July. But then so is Aimee Mann's "4th of July" from "Whatever". Not so imaginative now that I think about it. Good songs though.
alright i know i can't be the only one who loves making playlist.
i have a summer playlist i made and thought i would share.
if you have a cool playlist post it here, share if you can.. .

i remember when i was a kid in "the truth.
there was an elderly sister that had a heart attack during the meeting.
she made loud gasping sounds as she was holding on for dear life.
Eventually, after it seemed like 3 or 4 minutes, he paused in his talk and asked an attendant to check on the sister. Then he continued on with the meeting. The ambulance came to pick her up and took her to the hospital. She died that night.
Incredible.
If I were to allow something like this to happen as a supervisor on a construction site: 1. I would probably be fired. 2. I might never be hired again to supervise anyone. 3. Probably would end up in court trying to explain why I didn't immediately render first aid, or if my certificate had lapsed, find the closest person who could and then get an ambulance in route asap.
Those Brooklyn Book Club Boys provide training for this sort of emergency don't they?
i've been going out with this girl for 9 months.
so far, our relationship has worked so well, except for the past few weeks.
i've seen a lot of personality flaws.
I almost snapped and fought back.
Where I live this would end up in a trip down town to county jail, if you ever did snap.
A man that hits, pushes, kicks etc. a woman here gets arrested if police are called. Any call to 911 works too, that nosey neighbor has every right to call in a case of "suspected domestic violence". I'm not talking beating here. One hit, kick, push etc. is all it takes. Then, they let the DA sort out the details if they can get someone to actually press charges.
Domestic Violence is taken very seriously where I live. I suspect it's the same in most metropolitian areas.
If retaliating with physical violence has even remotely entered your head you need to get far, far away from her as fast as you can. I don't care if she whacks you with a baseball bat. Best thing you can do is pick yourself up off the ground and get the hell outta there.
if the gb really thought they had the exact truth perfect from flaws, shouldn't they be telling their members, "go look at the apostate stuff-- you'll see it's all lies!
compare it to the bible and you'll see it's all lies!
" that would completely eliminate apostasy if it were all true, no?.

That makes sense to me.
I didn't use "Apostate" material to answer my doubts about Jehovah's Witnesses. I used only their own literature and a couple translations of the Bible.
I had faded away at a much younger age but never had answered my doubts (1975-76). Years later I decided that I needed to address this issue.
When I eventually returned to the Kingdom Hall, I threw myself into my "studies".
My meeting attendence was excellent, I prestudied everything. I read not only the scriptures quoted, but all the scriptures referenced. I read them "in context", often going back many verses or at times chapters until I thought I had grasped what was really being discussed in said scriptures. I often used more than one Bible translations to clarify what I was reading. This was when the Society Publications were released on CDROM, in win3.0 I believe, so I had access to a decent amount of WTBTS publications to study besides the current literature used.
It took about a year, and I wouldn't even begin to try to estimate how many hours. Three or four hours a day were common. But eventually I began to realize that the WTBTS was doing some serious scripture twisting.
I kind of crack up now because at first I thought I was understanding some "deeper" thing the Society was hinting at. I'd raise my hand at a WT study and offer some comment like "Bear in mind that this Scripture referenced...read scripture...is saying something entirely different. I think what the Society is reminding us of here is "blah, blah, blah". Sooo many times the study conductor would look at me like a deer caught in the headlights and quickly move on. Damn, I wanted discussion! In retrospect I think they had no idea what the "reference" scriptures said as they hadn't read them.
Once I realized the "rule book" (the Bible) didn't support this "game" the WTBTS wanted us to play with them, it was all over for me. It would have been much easier for me to have stuck it out with the witnesses. I couldn't live the lie though.
I didn't get to interact with Apostates or read any Apostate material until months after I had walked out of a Kingdom Hall for the last time. Sites like this might have saved me a lot of time, I was blown away... in a good way, when I first visited here. I'm a big proponent of people trying to reason things out for themselves though. So take your time. Read, ask questions and reason on things such as the topic you chose for this thread. We're not going anywhere any time soon.
i was driving on some back roads today and seen a large building, the building was about 700 feet square and only 2 cars in a very large parking lot.
the sign in the front said jehovah's witness assembly hall.
the doors were locked and i heard no machine noise inside.
I am very interested in seeing how a Jehovah's witness is built.
This is a closely guarded secret. Once you understand how a thing is built it is far to easy to dissemble it. The Corporation that builds these Jehovah's Witnesses have no desire for anyone to unmake their products.
i didn't want to hijack the "how to save money" thread, but just wondered if anyone else here does his/her own sprouting (making sprouts from beans or seeds).. if you buy sprouts in the supermarket, they can very expensive, expecially if you like to mix 2 or 3 types within a salad.
additionally, if you don't have easy access to an asian market, the long white bean sprouts can be expensive.
locally here in miami, we pay about $2 for just a 12 ounce package.. i started sprouting my own things several years ago, not so much to save money, but more to have a fresh supply of sprouts and not have to go to the store as often.
Amicus, I'm hyperventilating here. Why put it in the recycling bin? Why not donate it to your local soup kitchen? They could definitely use it. Around here, everybody gives their overflow of veggies to the food pantries.
I know, it's sick. I can't give it away locally, most of my middleclass neighbors don't eat like I do. They "shop" at the local supermarket.
The food kitchens are 20+ miles away. I could possibly harvest and store in my refrigerator enough vegetables to make the 40 mile round trip worthwhile...but I'm not sure. We're in the...I forget the word, bleh. We're globally directly opposite from the "Promised Land". So, recall all the adjectives we've heard about the land of milk and honey, and they apply here. Sadly most folks grow "lawns" rather than food. I decided years ago that I'd mowed enough lawns for one lifetime so instead I grow food (and use less water). The olive trees that shade my house? Not harvested. Most of the fruit off my trees I have to rake up and compost. Grapes this year? I've not seen a better harvest. Most will be composted. I'm talking 100's of pounds. Mostly Thompson Seedless, but some red varieties. It's quite bizarre really. I spent about an hour harvesting ripe, not quasi ripe, blackberries this morning with my neighbor in his yard...we got 8 baskets. But I can only eat so much. The birds will get the remaining 100 baskets. Most American's have forgotten that they can actually grow food rather than shop for it, and they are begining to forget that one can make a meal out of something more complex than a can of Chef Boyardee Ravioli.
Wolves used to kill mice for food, now dogs eat bagged dog food. Fifty years ago my neighbors would have been found on small family farms living what was close to a self sufficient lifestyle, now they graze at the local supermarket.
i go back and forth everyday.
one day i'm like, "suppress your gay feelings and what you think is wrong about this organization and keep going forward because you want eternal life and all of your friends are here and it's as close to the truth as it can possibly get so just deal with it.
" others i'm like, "live your life.
DO's and CO's who are especially bright and so well-versed in the scriptures not figure out it's a hoax (if it in fact is)?
Perhaps, they too have doubts. If you truly felt you had enough freedom of speech to ask them these questions, with no fear of repercussions, you would be talking to them rather than to us here. So how do you know some, if not all of them, aren't of the same mind as you? You can't know of course. They have far more to lose than you. It takes years to work up to those positions. Those "bright" DO's and CO's might be chewing their fingernails off at night worrying that they have wasted their lives chasing an empty dream.
So, why rely on another to answer questions that in all honesty YOU have to find answers for. Take your time, decide what troubles you the most and start to find answers to those questions. We live in a golden age of information. You certainly can't believe all you read, but in time if you take the time, those little nuggets of "truth" may start to shine a little brighter than the "fools gold" that is so often offered as a substitute.
It's odd that a drug as harmless as Cannibis Sativa is so vilified. Yes, I have used it...no I don't currently and have not in many years. The reversal of the legality of Pot and Alcohol makes far more sense to me than what we see now. Unfortunatley Cannibis is easily grown throughout most of the world. Therefore it would be extremely difficult for "big business" to profit from it's use.
One rule that has proven true time and again, when pondering confusing edicts imposed by those in power, is "follow the money".

They didn't have - broccoli -seeds .
I think broccoli is a "flower". It might be pricey to sprout broccoli seeds unless you grew and harvested them yourselves. Broccoli would go to seed after the normal harvesting time for the "vegetable" broccoli that we know.
the jw's just called my job.
my boss answered the phone and she said that they were like, id like to share a scripture with you, read the scripture and was like now if you grab your bible, and she was like i dont have a bible and they said well, when someone comes by for a talk, and she was like, you cannot come here, this is a place of business.. .
lmao.
Very few things irritate me more than being outside working and having to drop what I'm doing and run inside to answer the phone just to speak to a telemarketer, etc. I've not been phoned by anyone selling religion. Anyone serious enough about their religion to think they can peddle it to me should be damn well motivated enough to get off their lazy a$$es and come to my door.
Grrrr,
I'm not easily irritated. That would push one of my well guarded buttons though, I do believe. I might even have a Robdar moment.
Love you Robdar, wish I was a "grasshopper on that grass" when you returned that "tract".
